I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but since I wasn't able to find any recent, helpful reviews on this place, I decided to write one. First of all, there IS now electricity on this island (or a generator at least). From what I had read before I went, I didn't think there was, so I didn't even...

My short stay on Caqalai Island was all too brief. The location was perfect, the people (Fijians) were warm and friendly, the accommodation was good (had a thatched bure that was kept clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and the sound of the ocean as a sleeping tonic - not that one was needed; with total relaxation sleep came...

The first thing is that nobody picked us up at Korovou-Busstation like they said before. Only after calling them somebody finally came to pick us up. I was told before that we don't have to pay for that pickup at the busstation, only for the boattransfer, but we had to pay extra. The island itself is beautiful. nice beaches, nice...

Beautiful small island in a gorgeous part of the world. Great for large groups. The staff are so friendly and very accommodating. Tasty food and great local entertainment in the evenings. Really such a lovely peaceful place.

I traveled to the Island with my 60 something year old parents. As we left Levuka we were unsure what to expect on the island as we heard it had been closed for several months and had only recently reopened. As soon as we arrived those thought were put to rest - the guys there welcomed us with huge smiles...

Had a fantastic time, good food, very friendly staff and absolutely fantastic snorkeling.... but all bures are taken for the nest 2 years by the Global vision volunteers. so you end up in a dorm room with a tin roof down the end. very comfortable double bed, only us, with toilet and shower attached at back, all good but we really expected a bure...

We spent one week in Caqalai in the end of january. This place is amazing. We had a wonderful time. My husband was there for 6 months in 97/98, and the place was mostly the same. The bures are simple but you have everything you need for a relaxing vacation. The food was ok. Our 4 year old daughter asks...

Some friends and I went there last week and LOVED it. It is very basic (no hot water, no wifi but VERY clean), but somehow that's a plus; it's like an easy version of camping and it's in paradise. The people there are incredibly nice and they make you feel like it's your home island. It's the perfect place to...

The island itself is amazing - palm fringed beaches, little bure with coconut palms shading them, paths lined with tropical plants, pretty hibiscus flowers placed beautifully, lots of well meaning and happy staff, but needs a bit more management to bring it to its full potential. Communication with the island is really difficult - took a lot of searching to...
