Stayed at the start of a gadventures tour. Staff had no English which made check-in interesting. Room was mediocre (turned out to be reasonably decent by Chinese standards) but no air conditioning (wrong time of year?) and stuffy. Location not bad close to the metro and rail station (arrived on the overnight train from Hong Kong) but quite a way...

The Shanghai Railway Mansion provides a decent clean according a convenient and low-cost manner. The lobby doesn't have any seating though and we were asked to sit outside on the steps after check-out while we waited for out taxi to arrive.

Stayed here during my tour, hotel was clean, my room was comfortable and hotel is in a good location, the staff were friendly, good access to local transport to explore Shanghai. Shops close by and a few restaurants. Would definitely stay there again, if I go back to China.

This hotel is easy to spot as you exit the SW exit of the Shanghai main Railway station as it's just across the concourse. It's a large white multi-storey tower with its name in English. The rooms, beds and linen are clean, the air conditioning and wifi works and the bathroom is ok but has a great shower. However, the...

The rooms are comfortable and clean, with the best showers of our China trip, but basic and characterless. The staff are not very friendly or helpful but it is convenient for the railway station and the excellent metro system, which will get you anywhere you need to go in Shanghai. The coffee bar was shut for the two days of...

The Shanghai Railway Mansion is a large, older, Chinese style hotel which did not impress but met my basic needs for lodging. Travelling alone, on business, arriving by train, and needing a two night stay before leaving Shanghai by early morning train, this hotel was conveniently located for my requirements. This hotel is 20 km away from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway...

This hotel is located on the new side of Shanghai city just steps from the Shanghai Railway station, metro (tube), and bus service. It is a modern and clean hotel with nice rooms and no carpets (thank goodness). Air con and modern bathroom. Accessible on line 1 of the metro.

Stayed here for last 2 nights of shoestring tour with Explore. A large, busy hotel on edge of railway station area. Our room was large, clean and well presented. The twin beds were firm, clean and a good size. The bathroom was clean and a good size with a ferocious shower which was great. There is no bar in the...

Having read some of the bad reviews of this place I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were large, had a working fan & temp gauge & seemed clean enough. The bathroom let it down a little but overall ok. Wifi still available on the 6th floor. Nice welcoming reception & well lit hallways. I felt safe staying here as a...
