Stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and found it to be good for the price I paid and for staying in a dorm. The two problems I had with this place were: 1. The doors to the toilets have like a cm gap between your knees and the door when sitting. Some don't close even so it was always...

We arrived at 2:30 am in the morning, because of a delayed flight. We couldn't inform the hotel about our situation (we have no chinese phone and the hotel has no e-mail adress). So they gave our room away and couldn't offer us another room. The guy in the hotel even didn't help us to find another accomodation. - OK...

Stayed here in November 2015. Friendly staff, wifi and a cool bar on the top floor. Staff were always available and allowed our late check in. You can grab local maps of the area on the ground floor next to reception. A (paid) breakfast is also offered, but we didn't try this.

The location is not far away from the subway and there are plenty things to do just around wai tan. Also, the hostel had multiple shower so we don't have to wait for it. Another great thing about this place is that their room and bed is big consider it as a hostel. There's a family mart just beside the...

The location is awesome, it's near the Pudong area, so you can walk and discover the surroundings. However the price is high for a hostel, you can get a double room in a good hotel for the same price or cheaper. The room and the building is old and not so clean, and the room are cleaned with the chinese...

The hostel is quite clean and comfortable. The lcation is super nice, because just 1 minute from it is the best view of Shanghai. And right opposite of hostel is good restaurant with tasty Chinese food. Take your own toilet paper and don't expect any shower gel and other in common bathroom.

I stayed here 2 nights and it was a great stay. I shared a dorm for 8 people. It could be a bit noisy in the early morning hours but other than that it was good. The room was quite big and spacious. Lockers were included as well. Another interesting thing about this hostel is the roof top bar. I...

I stayed in Captain Hostel for 4 nights in 8 beds female dormitory. The hostel is huge and well organised. You get a key with which you open the door to your room and also the safety box, which was quite big and I could lock my whole luggage into it. The room was very spacious and the bed was...

I was travelling with a large group so we stayed in a dorm. There were plugs at each bed but not all of them worked properly so you sometimes had to wiggle/push/pull etc. your charger to make it work. The showers were not perfect but they were no horror movie either although i really recommend bringing flip flops. There is...

Staying in The Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
The Bund
While there are certainly many other “bunds” in the world, “the Bund” refers to Shanghai’s famous waterfront. The area’s Gothic, Art Deco and Beaux Arts monoliths were built when it was part of the Shanghai International Settlement run by the British and Americans. The atmosphere of colonial-era luxury has endured over time and is now found in the five-star hotels, luxury brand boutiques and expensive restaurants that can be found within the historic buildings. A cultural center has built up away from the water and some of Shanghai’s best art galleries and museums are housed close to the Bund. Nighttime views of Pudong and the rest of the city also make for a great backdrop at the many rooftop clubs.

“1.The room at the east side (when facing the Bund) is far away from the pub, better for light sleepers. 2. The hotel is non-smoking, but you can smoke in the hallway. Nobody seems to care anyway. 3. No bathroom supplies (toothbrush, tooth paste and stuff) for mix dorm guests.”
