We stayed in a private twin room with ensuite and it was really comfortable. Hostel was kept very clean. They have a shared kitchen facility with fridge and kettle too. Only bad thing was the horrid smell in the lobby and also restaurant area, really really off putting

First, the directions were completely wrong. It's like a 10 minute walk from the subway, but took us 1.5 hours to get there. I called the hostel when I got off the subway, because the street listed in the directions was not there. I asked the receptionist to help. She just said, "I don't know." And when I persisted, went...

We stayed in a double room with private bathroom and it was great. The room was clean and we had clean towels everyday. You can use the laundry (9RMB), there is a coffee bar/restaurant where you can have breakfast/lunch/dinner and also drink something before going out. The hostel is close to People's Square and it's about 10 minutes to People's...

As this house has a lot of difficulties with ventilation, it is no wonder that the room had a weird smell and is moldy. Every mortise was moldy and it was not comfortable to stay there. Apart from that it was very pricey for what it is. Location was good though, just 5 min walk from the metro Dashijie and...

unfortunately we have been let down by this hostel. The street where the hostel is located (despite being close to the centre) is a poor, dirty and smelly street, which gives a very bad impression. The hotel has only internal rooms, with windows facing the corridors. Thereof, the rooms are humid, smelly and full of mould as there is no...

When I get in I can smell a bit smells. The room is small around 2.5x4.5m more or less. Some stuffs already rusty so if you dont used with it forget this hotel, also at night you can hear the sound from outside super clear. Since I'm a heavy sleeper i got no problem there. The hot water supply has...

I stayed in a double room by myself and everything seemed clean and worked well. It's a bit weird to have hot water/heating hours, but ho hum, we managed! The bed was soft and comfy and the room was relatively quiet, although occasionally you'd hear people singing karaoke next door. It's worth mentioning that my room had no window, which...

First off, the other reviewers that mention the stench of this place are right! I don't know how the garbage smell has permeated the walls and seeped into the whole building. I'm lying in my bunk in this hostel right now and the only thing that's keeping me from leaving is the fact that it is almost 3am. I can't...

The hostel is located next to a really smelly street and you can still smell the bad odour from inside the room. The windows cannot be closed properly ( completely). Therefore the noisy street next to the hostel woke me up and I'm lacking sleep! You can hear the chinese people screaming and the vehicles from the room. The good...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
