Recommended by a regular Shanghai visitor, this Hotel way exceeded all our expectations. Modern, clean, friendly and artsy with amazing views, anyone with any interest in the river, its traffic and rooftop bars will love this place.

Indigo on the bund is the best hotel to stay in Shanghai. Rooms are full of character, tailor decorated to make your stay unforgettable and special. Any other 5 star hotel in Shanghai are standard, but Indigo adds a local twist and taste to the room. This hotel has also the best view on the bund, you can see the...

elenaweng ! How are you? Hope this note finds you well. Yes the eclectic even whimsical nature of the the public space and guest rooms demonstrate great care in the design and initial art work and accent pieces selected for the property. As each simply add their own layer to the already rich history of the the city and our...

We went to the Restaurant at this hotel. The food was ok, but very very expensive. The staff were unhelpful and it took almost half an hour to sort out the bill. Nothing special about this place at all.

We were lucky enough to have a room overlooking the bund. Absolutely stunning views especially at night when the buildings light up. The room was modern and yet decorated to give a feel of the ancient orient. The swimming pool was quiet and changing facilities were luxurious. The only negative thing I found was that the reception area is very...

Greetings g4zz4 We are glad to read that you recently made Hotel Indigo your recent hotel of choice while here in Shanghai. It really is a fantastic boutique hotel with all of the facilities you would expect from a five star luxury hotel on the bund but with a far more reasonable price tag and a friendly proactive staff that...

A cool hotel that's practically on the river! Great location. Friendly, English speaking staff. We stayed in a corner room that was comfortable, clean and had amazing views. Very nice amenities. Will definitely be staying again!

This hotel is off the beaten path, but don't let that scare you. Right on the river and with great rooms, this hotel is the typical place I stay. There are less places to eat close by, so if you don't want to take a small walk or quick taxi trip to some of the more common areas, you might...

Greetings BBB Thank you for your comments over your recent visit to CHARbar which sits atop hotel Indigo on the 30th floor. It has always been important to us that we are first considered a bar with fantastic drinks and service and only then mention the fact that we have one of the most spectacular views in town. Very nice hotel and will happily stay there again. First time at an Indigo and a nice fresh design. Room was very nice, but there were too many light switches and it was confusing. A nice hotel with a fantastic rooftop bar . With the cool weather the location offer a fantastic view of the bund . Drinks are not too expensive and that might be only one of the few place to have a cigar outdoor with a drink in hand and lovely companions .

Staying in South Bund

Neighbourhood Profile
South Bund
This waterfront area below the most famous section of the Huangpu River has undergone multiple phases of development that started when the Waterhouse Hotel opened its doors. Though it’s been slower to catch on than people expected, every year something new and exciting opens up and gives people a reason to keep calling the South Bund the "Next Big Thing." There are a couple of landmark hotels and restaurants of excellent quality that serve as anchors, and multiple annual events such as beer festivals, art and fashion fairs and music shows take advantage of the wide spaces, waterfront location and the tiny man-made beach to host huge crowds of people. Wandering about the newness, one can stumble upon authentic Chinese life in the stone gates of people’s residences or the street markets.

Hotel Indigo’s first property in Asia Pacific opened its doors in December 2010. Sitting directly on the Huangpu riverfront, Hotel Indigo Shanghai on the Bund assures not only spectacular views of both the historic Bund and dramatic Pudong skylines, but an upscale boutique hotel experience where the focus is on inspired service, fresh and vibrant design reflecting the local neighbourhood, and providing guests with an authentic taste of today’s Shanghai, where old and new converge. Maximizing the spectacular views and combining traditional and modern Chinese design and bespoke pieces, each room provides an intimate haven and unexpected details – be it the walk in “shell shower” featured in a number of guest bathrooms, the oversized wet room with spectacular views, the reclaimed Shikumen brick feature wall or the hidden refreshment bar with individually designed tea sets.
