Interesting Ritz Carton, clearly older than other Shanghai properties but high quality nonetheless. Rooms are fine, perhaps not quite 5* Deluxe though. Club level is nice and up to par with worldwide club lounges I have stayed in. The service throughout is decent, although language issues for Western travellers seems to create some issues, as is common in many hotels...

I recently spent an extended stay in the Portman. I have nothing but good to say about the experience. While that is expected from the Ritz Carlton, a few high points: - the staff in very friendly in a city not know for its customer service - the concierge has cards for many of the top restaurants in town. Critical...

We recently stayed at the Portman Ritz-Carlton Shanghai as part of a Viking River Cruises land tour. We were upgraded to a 40th floor suite due to a situation that occurred at their property in Beijing. The room was large and spotlessly clean with an enormous marble bathroom with soaking tub and a large shower room. The toilet was in...

Rooms were in great shape and quite comfortable. Staff is very friendly. Nice breakfast in Tables. Very nice health club. Great shopping and wide selection of restaurants adjacent to the hotel. Metro station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.

I think the hotel is quite overpriced, if compared to the hotels in pudong. The room is very clean, loved the bathroom. Food is good, especially the breakfast buffet spread. Service wise they are top notch, but I think the hotel experience could have been much better if there is investment into renovating the old building. Sticks out like a...

I had the pleasure of staying at the Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai during my business travels to China. The hotel is absolutely fantastic. The only downside is the fact that you have to pay for wifi.

Portmsn is a very nice and luxury hotel, location of the hotel is just at Nanjing West road, which is a very famous street of Shanghai with a lot of brands and shopping malls. Also, the Jiang temple is just near the hotel, only 3 min walking distance.. Just a recommend for taxies, you can take a taxi from the...

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the property. Great location to see local sites. Spa was under construction. Good nightly entertainment in the lounge. Lots of local restaurants and shopping. Up scale neighborhood.

Friendly service, but after a few days it gets tiresome being greeted every time I walk over to the elevator bank. Breakfast buffet isn't as good as other top hotels. Ritz bar is nice but very pricey. The hotel is located in a complex with several very good restaurants (reasonable priced - Thai, burger place, bakery, Starbucks, etc.) connected to...

We recently stayed at The Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai and had a fantastic stay... quite a while since our last time in that hotel and I must say there is something special about that place... Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
