Our stay in the Ritz Carlton Portman was like most of our Ritz Carlton stays flawless as far as room and amenities. Even the little things are thought of. The room was clean and not the least bit dated. The only thing that could have been changed was the music played in the lobby and public areas could have been...

Frankly speaking the hotel looks a bit wrinkle but it still spares me the feeling of glory days on its first days of opening years ago. The hotel location is really good where you can access every corner of the old and new Shanghai. Starbucks and the convenience shop are in front of the hotel. The room is nice, confortable...

First the good points: 1. great location in the best part of town. Never cares to stay in Pudong where all the new hotels are located. all touristy and sight seeing business are on this side of river. i.e. the older section of town. I have a meeting in Shanghai Expo Center, but for the convenience of my wife, I...

We stayed a couple of nights at the Portman Ritz-Carlton in Shanghai and were not impressed. Needless to say we were surprised that Marriott’s top end hotel chain didn’t meet our expectations, at least not at this location. The main entrance looks like you are entering a shopping mall. And although the room was nice, it was dated...I actually thought...

This 5-star hotel is superb. The service is outstanding. The staff very helpful. The food uniformly excellent. The room was elegant. You cannot drink the water in China, so the hotel provides unlimited water. Coffee/tea is in the room.

We stayed at the Ritz Portman for two nights and found the hotel to be one of the nicest we have every stayed in. The rooms were clean, well stocked, service was impeccable. The beds, linens etc were comfortable. We ate in the bar and had breakfast at the hotel two mornings. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a variety...

I stayed at this property sept 9th thru the 13th. It was a very nice room. Large and comfortable. The concierge Benson was very helpful in helping me with an issue with a local vender. The bathroom was large and well appointed. The indoor pool is very nice. The sauna is also nice.

After hundreds of ratings I don't want to waste the readers' time and write the same things again. But some things cannot be told often enough. E.g. the location is really close to everything like the People's Square and also the Bund (you have to take the subway or Taxi but then it is very close). But everything in the...

The best hotel I've ever stayed in my life so far. The chambermaid is very2 understanding. They just knew what the guess needed without even asking. Amazing. When they knew that I used up the cotton pad provided, they provided with a lot more the next day. They put additional box of facial tissue right beside my cosmetic pouch on...

Staying in Jing'an

Neighbourhood Profile
Jing'an
The heart of this neighborhood is the Jing'an Temple, while the main artery of excitement and entertainment is West Nanjing Road. Close to the Former French Concession, the area has a similar draw for foreign residents but displays a more commercial character. Large, flashy malls, luxe residential high-rises and trendy nightlife areas can be found along West Nanjing Road, but areas off the busy street have the same quiet cafes and independent boutiques that many people think of as distinctive of the Former French Concession. Jing'an is less encased in amber, though, and it's possible to immerse yourself more fully in the energy of China's most bustling metropolis here.
