This was good value and an older style hotel with modern (refurbished?) bathroom and other facilities. Not many of the staff speak much English, but we could always make ourselves understood.

I have stay at the Broadway Mansions twice in 2013 & 2017. My most favorite hotel in the world, really. An old 1930's hotel that is well maintained with good rooms and great views of the river. Just walk out the door and experience Shanghai....More
From the time my taxi stopped in front of the Broadway Mansions hotel, until now, every moment and situation has been positive. I was greeted by the door man who handled my luggage with care. The front desk staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I...More

the city’s best-preserved, ancient longtangs (laneway communities) and shikumen (Shanghainese lanehouses) are still in use as actual residences here. If you like to be surrounded by local faces, Hongkou is a great area to spend your time in. The football stadium, Duolun Lu and the North Bund area await should you need some entertainment.

The international airport is an hour drive from the central city. Third party shuttles are available for a reasonable fee. We reserved the shuttle at the hotel front desk. You can also ride the maglev train most of the way and then catch a taxi to a hotel. I did that once; fun but not certain it saves time or money.
