Check in and check out were very acceptable; my reservation was acknowledged but as in all of China, your passport and visa have to copied and kept on file. On checkout, I had requested a taxi to the airport which was promptly on time and the bellman (more like security) helped with my bags without me asking. The taxi driver...

This hotel may certainly have been magnificent in its day . That day has now passed. It is old and dusty . However it does possess a certain charm . Centrally located for Nanging road ,the bund , yu garden market and city god temple,Xintiandi and many other places. The views from this hotel are outstanding;particularly overlooking the bund ....

You know a hotel is bad when you leave without refund the following morning after arriving. The place may have been a 4 star hotel 50 years ago but is now a decrepit building that is just not worth stepping into. Paint is peeling off the walls, ceiling tiles are missing or falling apart, furniture in our room was broken,...

This was my first hotel in Shanghai and I'm trying hard not to consider it a dump. The beds are old and hard. Carpets are stained. Hallways smell like smoke. Breakfast is ok. Bathrooms not very clean. Lobby furniture is uncomfortable. Internet accessibility wasn't consistent.

I have stayed in many hotels in Shanghai and this was one of the worst one. The hotel, even though it says it got renovated in 2008, it looks so old and outdated. The sofas, carpets and furniture looks like they have not cleaned since they were installed. The tables are so sticky and disgusting. You don't want to seat...

Near the subway station it takes 5 minutes on foot. On the way there are market, so walking way is always crowded. Wide room and slight old, but big LCD TV in the room and WIFI is available. Price is reasonable for business using. There is no money exchange on the front desk. Breakfast is included and soso. The hotel...

The hotel felt cheap, ugly and unmodernised. The interior had lost some paint and it felt unhygienic. The hotel has about 13-16 floors, but only 2 elevators. So you can imagine how long it took to get up and down! It was only Chinese food at the breakfast, such as rice, some fruits and vegetables, some weird sausage, white toast...

The only advantage of this hotel was cheap with great location. Metro stations nearby, since we're group of four so taxi to all the hot spots which's around RMB$20. Mattress was collasped so can't sleep properly during out stay. Their gym located on the 3rd floor with three machines but all looks so old and dusty.(It was actually a normal...

The Magnificent International Hotel is located conveniently between two metro stations, namely Lao Xi Min (2 street blocks from the hotel) and Da Shi Jie (3 street blocks). Without any luggage, you can reach either station in between 5 to 7 minutes. The room I stayed in was spacious even with a king-sized bed attached. The bed was comfortable and...

We were disappointed with this hotel. It was supposed to be four star, but it didn't live up to that rating. The rooms smelt of smoke, the lift was slow, the beds very hard and breakfasts very poor. The one good thing was their downstairs lounge area. It was handy to some good reasonably priced restaurants and a 15 minute...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
