We enjoyed the hotel, the rooms are nice and clean, the staff at the reception are helpful. The only downside is the internet connection, which is very slow both via wireless and the wire connection provided in the rooms.

The hotel is in the center and at the walking street with many shops and restaurants, I booked 5 nights but had to leave after one night as I could not to my work quick as the internet was more or less useless with a lot of cut off. I tested other rooms and levels but no changes. The hotel... More

Very dated hotel, bath needs upgrades all over, air conditioning didn't work properly, noted with front desk, never fixed, no explanation was given whatsoever. Staff is not rude but they don't really care, basically their English language proficiency is very limited so they don't understand you most of the time, including what it is supposed to be a concierge and... The location is great. The hotel has 2 main entrance and one of the them to the Nanjing road which is a pedestrian road full of shops , malls, coffee shops and restaurants. You can enjoy time in this street day and night. The staff is helpful and brought us a taxi whenever we want telling us the exact price... More

Old jaded rooms. Overall the hotel is a big complex and the inners are quite nice. But get to the room and they feel old. Wifi is slow. Ok the warnings come outside the hotel. Lots of people offering you club rooms, karaoke, chinese massages. Stay away I warn you, just say no and walk away. They are all scams.... More

Booked last minute as I was on a business trip yet felt could not leave Shanghai without seeing the sights!!! When booking online in China use ctrip as they offer way more selection and better prices than the traditional Expedia or hotels.com! The rooms huge! Seriously impressive! A nice selection of toiletries etc etc Internet is fast and stable. It... More

Stayed here on a business trip. Hotel room is very old and really needs a face lift. Most wooden surfaces are peeling off and are really ugly. Bathroom wall is mouldy and floor outlet is not flowing well with ponding problem after a shower. Room is huge with plenty of power sockets, some with universal plugs so you don't need... More

Nice hotel. Location is just adjacent to the famous Nanjing Rd. shopping haven. Rooms are newly renovated (probably) as I noticed in my room. Normally breakfast is not included in room rates, but many restaurants nearby. All in all I'll my stay in this hotel rates was very good.

Great location! Step out then you get to the shopping street where loads of people are walking around. The room price is not bad for hotels in Shanghai because all 4-5 stars hotels there are much more expensive than other cities in China. According to the the rooms and services I would not recommend anyone to stay there.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
