This round, we have certainly booked the right hotel to accommodate our needs for business, leisure and to have a taste of Shanghai city. Located adjacent to the Nanjing Road (Pedestrian street), it is within walking distance to my favorite evening photography spot, The Bund. Simply spectacular view during the blue hour. People's square is the nearest Metro station, from...

I stayed in four places during my Shanghai trip, with this being the first. After my 20 hour travel day, I'm glad that the bed was super comfortable. Hotel was average quality, and the price seemed high compared to other properties in Shanghai.

A group of 6 of us were on business in Shanghai and decided to stay at The Magesty Plaza for its location. The location is right smack in the heart of all the hustle and bustle on the walking street of Nanjing Road. The hotel has a grand feel to it when you walk into the lobby, covered with marble...

This is a beautiful hotel in an incredible location! We stayed 2 nights here and loved it. The staff spoke excellent English and the rooms were lovely. Breakfast was nice with a great variety of food to choose from. Right outside the hotel doors is the Nanjing Road mall area and it is within easy walking distance to The Bund....

I should say I prefer classic older hotels over the sleek, but impersonal, modern hotels that are exactly the same around the world. This more than offset a little smaller room to us. You can step out into the very center of Shanghai at any time. Staff was helpful, including giving directions. Breakfast is good.

Here for the second time. The room is good, the bed mattress not too hard, as is often the case in more Chinese-style hotels. The gym is good, there is a 25-meter swimming pool which looks nice. Breakfast is not worth the money (you better go across the street to the White Coffee place). Comfortable for a business stay.

Walking distance from Metro station (station with 3 lines) and Nanjing Road and lots of foods. Overall, the building was old but location was excellent. Though is old, the aircon and heater works perfectly fine (as I travelled in Feb, weather was rather cold). Behind the hotel, you can walk towards Nanjing Road or to Metro station. In front of...

The hotel is on Nanjing Road which was a great street for tourists. You may directly walk through the river from there. I have stayed in a room which has no windows so it was a little bit uncomfy. But bed is comfortable. Breakfast and dinner was not really ok for Europeans.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
