I am very cost conscious and have been looking for a better choice for some years and over and over return to the Wugong. Only two long blocks to East Nanjing metro stop and a great local people massage parlor on the same side street you will take to the Metro, 60RMB for a one hour foot massage. Lots of...

The hotel was in good condition from what I saw. The rooms were clean and had decent furniture. The front desk staff spoke good English which was nice. Though I did see a man who spoke neither Mandarin or English and they had a hard time serving him. The internet worked well. This is also in a great location. It...

The only good thing about this place is the location. its a short 4 minute walk to NANJING Lu Market. That's it. Besides, the hotel apparently is a very very old property with absolute lack of will on part of management to change anything. The rooms are furnished with old run down shabby furniture. Air conditioner was not working at...

Wu Gong hotel is a nice clean hotel in a very safe location. The rooms are large & modern. Breakfast is a large spread but doesnt vary too much everyday. Nanjing road which I read is the "Las Vegas" of Shanghai is about 10 mins walk. Its a nice place to be during the day but at night full of...

Great location, and although there were some expected communication issues the service at the hotel is pretty good. The only real downfall of this hotel, and it's a a big downfall, is the need to refresh the rooms. The carpet in the room I was in had me fearing to remove my shoes, besides the large holes burnt into the...

Old building but recently renovated rooms. Breakfast included and it is the same food everyday. It is located in the educational supplies and bookstore district of Shanghai. 3 blocks from the Nanjing Pedestrian Street. There are 2 convenient stores in the area, 1 across the hotel, and another one just around the corner. Internet is slow, but it is free...

The room rate is reasonable. The location of the hotel is good, room condition is reasonably good in relation to the room rate. Breakfast is nice and provide sufficient choices if one is not too choosy. The only thing i found is the staffs at the reception counter are generally lack friendly and helpful, not very responsive to my questions...

We stayed in the Wu Gong on two occasions in October. THe hotel is really well situated - close to the Bund, shopping precinct and Shanghai museum. I chose the hoel after reading about it on trip adviser and asked for rooms on the 7th floor , however rooms on the fifth floor also looked good. Didn't eat at the...

The location of this hotel is excellent: next to Shanghai Book city, 2 blocks south of Nanjing Donglu (the main shopping street) and easy transport access. For the price we paid at 398 RMB for a double, it was really good value for money. Get a room facing away Fuzhou Lu so that you don't get the traffic noise from...

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
