Slept there for 4 nights. The Front liner was very impolite, those girls didn't even smile or greet the guests. No Greetings, No Thank You. Their room maids were more polite than them. Elevator was very frustrating, Lighting in the room was bad, too dark. Bad breakfast menu. I wont be staying here again.

Having had a very positive hotel experience in Beijing we travelled to Shanghai to stay in this hotel for 4 nights and our experience straightaway got off to a bad start when our accommodation was not what we requested. Then ensued a lengthy discussion and in the end we had to have one of our adult children share our room...

A simple overnight stay and i would never imagine such calmly mannered and friendly staff! They helped us sort out transportation and the breakfast was simply delicious! Rooms are very nice and clean totally value for money only a simple note be careful while showering as it gets really really slippery. Maybe just put a towel on floor!

Hotel location is very close to Nangjin road ( just 2 min walking ) also close to the subway station ( 5 min walking ). Breakfast is good and contains lot of varieties. Room was very nice, nicely organized, very clean, nice decorations. Staff are very helpful and polite. The currency exchange machine located in the reception is a brilliant...

We stayed in The Charms Hotel for 5 nights over new years and had a wonderful experience. For $25 AUD a night we had a HUGH room with a big window over looking Shanghai's Nanjing Road. It was in a great location in-between the people square and the bund. Transport was easy due to the proximity to two major train...

The hotel, its location and price is fine. Its walking distance to Nanjing street. It has all the amenities you need. The only negative is on the backside of the hotel is all massage parlors. The restaurants are quite good just stay away from the bad areas.

The location was perfect for my needs, just one street away from Nanjing Road pedestrian street! The metro was also walking distance away which was tremendously helpful. The staff were reasonably helpful considering the language barrier. The facilities are very old and dated. The inside of the building needs a solid revamp. The carpets were old and dingy, the taps...

It's not perfect but the location is. It is situated between two metro stops. You can easily catch the metro to the airport and it takes about an hour and a half and costs about 10RMB - and it's about 1 hour by taxi and about 200RMB.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
