Stayed for a night in a female dorms, eventhough there is a problem on airconditioner, they fix it right away after I made a complaint. Nice, quiet and hidden place. The indoor interior looks creative with the small ponds. Place is clean and the area nearby to attractions place via metro.

Nice hidden place, quiet, away from the crowds. Good place for lunch/diner/drinks. Nice terrace, nice indoor place. Feels a bit like home. Had some very good sandwiches too for nice prices, also some foreign beer chaoice and Illy coffee !

Stayed in here for four of five nights I had booked because I just had to leave. Nice common space with a pool table and good food from the restaurant. The rooms were very cramped and not cleaned out well during guest turnover. It was entirely filled with young Chinese who were pretty much living out of the place while...

After I had paid online for a booking here a few weeks before arriving (my bank details prove this) I arrived only to be told my booking did not exist. I then tried to show them my confirmation e-mail, however my e-mail was blocked in China of course. The hostel had people who are not willing to socialise or have...

staff were friendly and the style of the hotel is nice, lots of different areas to explore. close to peoples square and subway also on the downside rooms and bathrooms were extremely basic, hard beds, flat pillow, bit grubby, plus when i was staying, there seemed to be a lot of guests staying longterm, so as apposed to a room...

Had a good stay here for 4 nights! Double room is a good size, clean etc. bathrooms very close same floor, nice hot showers! Restaurant/bar area downstairs is nice and relaxing. Free wifi and a pool table. The food is really good here and also cheap! I would recommend staying here! Very good price.

If I could take a different hostel with different staff and amenities and move it here, it would be perfect. The location is dead center of the Puxi side of the river, and perfect for visiting the museums, parks, and architecture of old Shanghai. The hostel itself was a huge disappointment. The staff were totally unhelpful, and the place was...

Great location just five minutes walk from Metro and Nanking Rd. I really liked the layout of the hostel and has a great but overpriced bar/restaurant that was nice to spend time in. Staff at front desk speak English well and were very helpfull. Metro stop has direct access to The Bund and The French Concession without transferring. 10 minute...

The hostel staff wasn't keen to provide us with information or recommendations. The room was fine, but the hostel is located between a kindergarten and a school, who's band woke us up every morning around 7am. The common area is nice, its the cafe of the hostel itself. Not the best atmosphere, would not go back there.

Staying in People’s Square

Neighbourhood Profile
People’s Square
People’s Square brings with it all the excitement you would expect from the town square of one of the biggest cities in the world. The area around People’s Square and People’s Park is always a abuzz with activity. Oceans of local and foreign tourists flow in and out of the area every day to see grand museums, go shopping and eat at some of Shanghai’s most storied food centers. Shanghai residents, meanwhile, live and work in the many residential and office high-rises. While much of Shanghai stays busy late into the night, this really is an area that never sleeps with glitzy nightclubs keeping people up until the wee hours of the morning.
