This hotel is the perfect location if you are looking for a place to rest surrounded by nature and still being near the airport. It is ran by an hospitable couple, that gave us useful information on the places to visit in Alajuela or San Jose. They even borrowed a ball to my son, so that he could play some football. The atmosphere is very relaxed and seems to be very secure. We stayed in room 1, that was very clean with very comfortable beds. The bathroom was also very clean with a modern style. They even have european power plugs. The breakfast is very good, with tasty fruits and excellent juicy and coffee, that full filled us. You can ask for more, if you want. We didn't have a rent car, but booking an Uber or Didi was not a problem at all. Word of caution: Although you have a ride from the airport to the hotel included in the price, in my case there was no one waiting for us. Fortunately a taxi driver noticed us waiting for a ride and took us to the hotel. The fare ended up being paid by the owner. Later, I realize that I was the one to blame, since I missed the confirmation message that the owner sent me 24 hours before arrival. So, please confirm your ride just before arriving. Overall I would stay in this hotel again. The location is excellent if you want to rest on arrival or need to stay a night before taking off. …

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at this location. The front entrance is gated and secured via cameras and the property facing the road is fenced so we felt very safe overall. Our room was cozy but seemed large due to the floor to ceiling windows facing the forest and a stunning view from the balcony. The bathroom was modern and spotless. The bed was very comfortable and other guests were quiet, making for restful sleep. Wifi signal was strong with minimal lag time. The landscaping around the property is exquisite (see photos). A complimentary breakfast of fruit and toast was hand delivered at our pre-scheduled time. They even offer laundry service with folding included. An inexpensive local restaurant with good seafood, a karaoke DJ and disco lights is less than 5 minutes away. This is a great deal for the money in my opinion. Highly recommended!…

We loved our short stay at Pibi Boreal. The hotel is a convenient 20 minutes from SJO and owner Matthew picked us up and dropped us off when leaving. His wife Nidia is very nice and the accommodations are very clean, with a large fan and open balcony to a forest of trees. The early fruit and bread breakfast was tasty and prefect before our flight. I also enjoyed the walk on the grounds as a great introduction to Costa Rica. Definitely worth the money, and we will reserve there again in the future.

My fiancé and I had such a wonderful time at Pibi. We got into the airport around midnight, and it was wonderful to have Mathieu pick us up. The hotel is so quaint and it was refreshing to sleep with the screen door open to hear sounds of the jungle. The breakfast of fresh fruit and croissants was delicious and coffee was outstanding. Mathieu gave us great recommendations for a restaurant on the way to Arenal and we were grateful for his help! This is an awesome hotel to start or end a journey near the airport but away from chain stays. Highly recommend!

We highly recommend this delightful family run hotel in the hills outside of San Jose, not far from the airport. Upon our arrival from Canada, a shuttle awaited us (6 people) and brought us to Pibi Boreal. The eco-friendly hotel is simple but wonderful. Crisp linens, comfortable beds, floor to ceiling windows and verandahs with beautiful views of the rainforest in the backyard. Breakfast is coffee, fruit and bread/croissants with butter and jam, brought to your room on a tray to enjoy outside. It is a wonderful way to be introduced to the Pura Vida world of Costa Rica. The hosts were friendly and helpful. Why would you stay in a cookie cutter, boring chain hotel when you can begin your adventure at Hotel Pibi Boreal? Set at the edge of Forest and lovely garden. Butterflies and birds. Family run, with breakfast. We were collected from airport and had a hire car delivered here to start our holiday. Comfortable room and veranda to sit and eat breakfast. Small meals available, we had a toastie and salad in the evening when we arrived.

Lovely little hotel up on a hill above the city of Alajuela. Comfortable room, gorgeous view, and excellent service from the hosts. The location is close to the airport and well above the city. I wouldn’t spend much time in Alajuela, as it didn’t feel very safe, but for a quick stop while going to or from the airport it was wonderful.

Very beautiful and peaceful. The breakfast was amazing with fresh fruit, toast and Costa Rican coffee…yum! The owners treated us like family, going above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. Guided us to where to go and helped us plan our day. We will definitely be back!

The rooms were clean. Breakfast was lovely and the host did everything in his power to help us. He picked us up from the airport and gave us many useful tips. We could buy a sim card from him for $4 dollars. Also, the view from the terrace was beautiful.
