The best part of this hostel is the small rooftop bar. My bed was awful, bunk bed didn't have a ladder, had to ask for a top sheet for bed, building is very tired. It's cheap but not cheerful in my opinion.

Standard accommodation 5 minutes from the airport with a free shuttle. Sanitary but not especially clean. Dorm rooms feature squeeky as hell bunk beds with a metal child size ladder to get to the top. Not much socializing or sightseeing going on but overall a decent place to crash if you have a flight the next day.

Overall, just "meh". $15/night per person for a 6 bed dorm that's small and crowded. Some mattresses were decent, others were so flat you could feel the metal of the bunk bed beneath you. The AC was okay, but it made a loud clicking noise all night while it was on. Bathroom in the dorm had shower and toilet together,...

We had one of the private rooms. Sheets and bathroom were clean, and staff were polite. Asked for another blanket and that was no problem. Floors were dirty so we wore our shoes inside. There were 3 windows in our room, facing the street. One had no covering, one the blind was closed and wouldn't open, 1 blind worked as...

Stayed there twice. The first time, we asked for a 6-bed dorm but were given a 8-bed dorm. The second time, the room didn't have windows and was very stuffy. US$15/night, US$1 for a towel, no handsoap in the bathroom in the rooms, no water nor toilet paper in the bathrooms at the reception, no kitchen, no fridge... Very expensive...

I read a review of this place that said it was good and was sorely disappointed. No blankets, smells like bleach, everyone's else room is very audible..... It actually wasn't worth a good choice for the one night before flying out.

The hostel was really good for spending my last night in Costa Rica before returning to home. After staying in jungle and beach hostels, the showers and the AC felt really nice. They have a decent rooftop bar and restaurant where you can hang out. Ask for a blanket though since they don't provide one by default.

Very clean and friendly place. The location is great to walk around Alajuela if you have some time to kill before your flight. Breakfast was great and staff very friendly and helpful. Very good value. I would definitely return.

The Alajuela backpacker hostel is located about 8 minutes from the SJO airport. They gave us a free taxi to the hotel which was great. We didn't want to go into San Jose so it was the perfect spot to catch a bus out in the morn. Bus stop is within walking distance from the hostel as well as a...

Close to the airport and a very reliable free airport shuttle. Not a great location except for proximity to airport. My private room had a very comfortable king sized bed. A very pleasant roof top cafe with well priced and very tasty food is great option for dinner.
