Lots of pros and cons. I'll start with the later. Multiple bed firms are very tight for luggage space. I would recommend 4 bed dorm which includes a bathroom. There are lock boxes that just fit documents and wallets. Bathrooms do not have soap. A.C....More
I don't know why people are writing such bad reviews, I stayed here 1 night and I thought it was quite good. Rooms are very clean with lots of space, friendly staff and restaurant at the top! I would stay here again :-)

I only stayed one night at Alajuela backpackers to wait for my flight the following day. The 6 person room was okay and included a shower and sink that were both decent. Staying for one night was fine but I wouldn't want to stay here...More
Ridiculous place. Completely overpriced. They charge 19 dollars per night, that's 5 dollars more than most hostels in the area. The place has no vibe, no communal area, no breakfast. Don't let the free shuttle fool you! Go somewhere else!
