I was really surprised how nice this big hostel was!. The rooms were very clean and even though there were very few bathrooms and showers for all of us we didn´t have any problems. The people working there were extremely nice and they really enjoyed spending time chating with us and making us feel welcome. Plus is very well located...

We visited this place back in July. The interior is a little dark and sparse. Our room was very big though, and the place was kept pretty clean. There's a little lack of natural light in parts of the building. Our windows looked into the interior of the hotel of which the skylight was covered by plexiglass. There is an...

Alajuela Backpackers is very convenient and if you are looking for something affordable and nice close to the airport, there probably isn't anything better. Most travelers have a solid 1 night stay here given the proximity to the airport, and the town has what you need to get through the night. Nothing fancy or adventurous, but just enough. I missed...

This is my first time here in Costa Rica, myself and four others attended a wedding the weekend of the 20th. Alejuela backpackers is a friendly place with a welcoming staff. The blonde host with the shoulder length hair, at the front was way more than helpful. She had a "CAN-DO" attitude and patience for Miles (sorry, your name slipped...

A great location not far from the San Jose airport but out of the hustle and bustle of the big city. Andre' was such a fun and helpful man working the front desk. We enjoyed his personality and he did his best to make sure our stay was perfect. Very clean room with lots of space.

Nothing fancy, Alajuela is not necessarily a place you want to visit, but it's where you need to stay if you will be going early in the morning to the airport or if you are arriving late. Free shuttle to the airport. Great food at the restaurant. Good exchange rate for colones-USD

Great place to stay if you are just arriving or leaving. There's a nice rooftop bar and the food they serve is decent and not too expensive. They offer free airport shuttle services which I guess makes up for the fact the rooms are pretty expensive at $19. The staff are pretty helpful and the staff who work in the...

This hostel can be a very good choice if you just arrived or will leave at/from the Alajuela airport. There is a TV and available computers downstairs and a roof top restaurant in the 4th floor. The staff is very helpful to organize anything you need but you will also feel that it is a hostel with a lot of...

I spent the night here before I left for Costa Rica. I took the bus from La Fortuna de San Carlos to Alajuela. The hostel is only three blocks from the bus station. The front desk staff was extremely helpful. She pointed out the way to restaurants, the grocery store and a tourist souvenir shop for some last minute shopping....
