We weren't looking for Bahrain. This was just fine. We walked all over Alajuela and then were just minutes to our flight. Nice to have hosts who treat you as friends.

cleanliness: maybe the kitchen wasn't that clean (although it wasn't dirty neither), the bathroom certainly was, and that was for us more important! I liked the fact that we could make our own coffee in the afternoon and after having dinner. service: Silvia prepared us every day good and really filling breakfasts (my favourite: el gran tico); towels, sheets, helping...

My husband and I stayed @ Vida Tropical twice during our recent trip and liked it both times. It is only about 10 minutes from the airport via a $7 taxi ride. We were exhausted after lengthy sleepless travel and this was a good place to replenish before launching into the country. Our first room, the Garden Room, is separate...

We have traveled to Costa Rica for the past 4 years and always stay at Vida Tropical when we get there and also when we leave. Norman and Isabel is always so helpful in getting what we need. Sylvia makes an excellent breakfast which is a full breakfast not a continental style. The beds are comfortable. Norman also has a...

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The room we stayed in was clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was included as well as internet. We stayed there on our way to the airport to go home and it was a great last night in Costa Rica!

We have stayed at Vida Tropical several times since August 2008 and we just can't say enough about Isabel, Norman, their adorable son Nico, and Slyvia (who does all the cooking). However, I have to measure expectations by saying that if you're looking for a resort experience with high end furnishings and room service, you're looking in the wrong place....

Vida Tropical was recommended to us by family who had lived in Costa Rica. We used it as a base when we spent several months travelling in Central America, staying a total of 12 nights during this period. It was close to the airport and only half an hour from the noise and bustle of San Jose for those times...

For those planning a trip to the natural environments of Costa Rica, this is a great place to start the trip. Convenient to San Hose Airport and located in the wonderful working class town of Alahuela, one can rest here without the hassles of downtown San Hose.
