There isn't too much nice to say about this place following our stay, unfortunately. We booked through booking.com and were to pay at the property, we'd messaged the property to ask which currency they would prefer us to pay in to which they responded Colones in Cash. This was our last night in Costa Rica so we took out just enough for the night and a little more for a meal and a drink. When we tried to pay, we were scorned and told that an additional 10% would be charged as an exchange to USD, on top of the 10% in VAT, the 14% service charge and they exchange we'd already paid by taking money out at the ATM. We did maths and came to the agreement that we would not be paying this additional charge because that's not what was quoted. The restaurant at the property was more dear than we had expected too, therefore we were going to pay for our meal with a bank card, we were trying to pay when the guy who checked us in yelled at us that we didn't pay the extra 10% and how dare we then pay with card (he even told us his disgust in us ordering food AND a drink. Rude). He stormed out of the room leaving us stood in disbelief that this was being addressed again after already being politely resolved. Another guest wanted to pay at this time too, so a colleague from the kitchen came to politely take his payment and then addressed us as though we were nothing more than an inconvenience. She argued with us for 20 minutes that we would need to pay extra for our dinner because we didn't pay the additional 10% in exchange when we paid for our room. We wish we didn't stay here and stayed somewhere else for our last night in Costa Rica. This caused so much distress and left such a bitter taste in our mouths. The following day, we had an additional 2 knocks on our bedroom door. I was so happy when our shuttle to the airport arrived, leaving this place behind. The shuttle to the airport was lovely and we were very happy with the service for this part of the experience.

The staff is wonderful and very helpful! Robert speaks english if you don't speak Spanish. We got in just before the kitchen closed at 9p.m. and were served a light meal. The beds were comfortable, the shower large, clean and we had hot water both in the evening and morning. It's very pretty and peaceful with different areas to find solitude. Yes, the airplanes fly over until about 11 p.m. and start again about 9 a.m., but we were not too bothered and it certainly didn't keep us awake. The free shuttle is only going TO the airport. The official cab service (orange) charged about $10 to go the 10 miles and they were very accomodating. We made reservations to stay there on our return trip, in about 2 weeks. My husband and I have traveled the world and would recommend this hotel. The free breakfast was excellent and had something for everyone. Good family spot, too.

Stayed 1 night after travelling across country from Samara, before returning to the UK. Staff were very friendly, room clean and comfortable, and evening meal adequate. Only downside is proximity to flightpath.

Nice place to stay when arriving/departing country. Close to airport with shuttle provided going to the airport. Cheap to take taxi from the airport. Very nice gardens with plants all identified, relaxing enclosure to rest/read with book exchange available, beautiful pool and surroundings, nice little town very close with nice selection of stores/restaurants, and room was clean and comfortable. Meals were good.

I thought people were being overly critical of this place when I booked, but honestly now that I've stayed there it does feel deceptive. It does not look like the pictures on the website. It's good for if you need to be in close proximity to the airport. But the vibes are weird. The gift shop is covered in dusty items. They give you the TV and AC remote at check in and make you bring it to the front desk at check out, presumably to catch you with a fee. I was reading they charge a fee for late arrival too, probably because of that gate. I wasn't expecting the neighborhood to be great, so that was as expected. The food at the restaurant was pretty bad, especially compared to some of the amazing home cooked food you can get at the soda stands around the rest of the country. I'm pretty sure the vegetables were just frozen out of the bag. Honestly, the best part of the hotel was the cat, who was friendly but independent, and would give you attention if you want it, but would otherwise mind her own business hunting mice and lizards. I gave her some fresh water. So I would recommend this place if you need close proximity to the airport and you want a cat friend, but otherwise I bet you can do better. Red flag that they recommend Denny's as a local popular diner, hahaha. Yeah. Weird vibes. Irony, we are going to Denny's because their food was so bad.

We stayed 2 nights, it was a bit loud being next to the airport. But the breakfast and dinner were pretty decent and the service was excellent. We wished they had an in-room safe though - that's the only negative. We liked that they had solar showers too for the environment. We were grateful to the hotel clerk for recommending using Uber instead of taxis because Uber was cheaper.

We stayed here a few nights post and pre flights. This is a very nice location with a pool, wifi and breakfast. The rooms are cleans, smell fresh and are comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. We would stay here again when near the airport in San Jose.

Brilla Sol is located in the very vicinity of the San José airport. The Maps.me navigator app was not able to find the rather complicated way thereto, whereas Waze made it. The beautiful courtyard behind a huge gate is surrounded by high walls isolating the hotel from the less developed neighbourhood, like an oasis in the desert. Although wearing ear plugs, the air traffic woke us up a few times during the first night. According to the map the planes pass the hotel at a distance of 300 m. Anyway, we liked the room, staff, garden and the pool so much that we returned there at the end of the vacation and were not disappointed. For some reason, this time the air traffic did not disturb sleeping. Perhaps the bypassing planes were landing, not taking off. The breakfast and the room were good. As a bonus they offer a free transport to the airport. We travelled before the COVID-19 pandemia.

Very clean rooms, nice reasonable restaurant and service excellent and a very relaxing lounge area/s. *I would note it can be a bit nosy with airplanes taking off overhead (right in flight path)and probably why price is cheapest than most and swimming pool should be kept cleaner.

This little hotel near the San Jose airport was a gem. Spotless rooms, lovely gardens, nice pool and super staff. The best place to stay when you need to be near the airport. The grounds are very secure and though the planes overhead can be loud, they didn't seem to fly at night so we weren't bothered by them. A real surprise as the cost is low and so were my expectations.
