I , on behalf of my family would like to wholeheartedly recommend staying at this hotel on your trip to Costa Rica. We first came to this hotel on our first ever trip to Costa Rica in 2011 having been led there by another couple who had discovered this little gem. We stayed in the "High End" rooms on our...

Hotel Los Volcanes is the latest use of a fantastic old house right across from the Museo Histórico Cultural Juan Santamaría in downtown Alajuela. When you first step into the hotel, you get the sense that you are in a former mansion, with a Spanish feel combined with the open areas so common to central America. The rooms are very...

I've visited Los Volcanes on multiple occasions and every time I've enjoyed my experience. Make sure you stay for breakfast because it is the perfect blend of fresh food and coffee. This is my go to place for comfort and a warm, hospitable atmosphere near the airport.

I stayed here 2 times coming from and going to the AirPort. Okay place to stay. First night I came in late and had to leave for the 6.00 bus to montezuma. It is nice that it is possible to come and leave anytime day or night. But that also made it very noise my first night. I had a...

I'd love to give this place 4 or 5 stars based on the breakfast alone, but there were too many things that pulled it down. Plusses and minuses below: Good: The breakfast was simply the best I've had in Costa Rica. They put extra love into this. Conveniently located in downtown. Nice building and well kept common areas. Rooms were...

The hotel is beautifully done. The rooms are simply decorated but very elegant. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and very helpful. I was looking forward the having breakfast in the courtyard but unfortunately they don't start serving until 7am and we had early plans both days... so try to give yourself a little extra time in...

We spent 2 nights here before ending our trip in Costa Rica so that we could see the city and be near the airport. The hotel is located near many restaurants, grocery stores, shops, and bus terminals. It was absolutely beautiful with high ceilings and tile floors. The courtyard/dining area was well maintained and very pretty as was the front...

This is a great little hotel with free shuttle to the airport, clean rooms, a very friendly staff, and right in the heart of Alajuela where it's very easy to get a feel for the local culture! Just a block or two to a large outdoor market. Great breakfast and a very inviting atmosphere.
