The grounds were very nice. The staff were wonderful. Breakfast buffet was good. The room was spartan. The ceiling light fixture leaked into a puddle on the floor. The floor tiles were extremely slippery when wet.
My family of 3 were there for 3 nights, if you have kids the Arenal area is a perfect place. The resort was what I would think the "Garden of Eden" must look like, it was beautiful everywhere you look. The food was great, the...More
Our family of 6 stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were large and clean. Nice patios out front and back of the rooms with very nice views. The staff were very friendly- particularly the drivers. The rooms are on a steep hill, but they have...More

Drive from San Jose was harrowing to say the least, but well worth the stay.

I had a driver and came from San Jose. we arrived to the airport early evening as our flight got delayed. I was honestly glad I didn't drive as it was a 3 hour drive in the dark, it was raining, winding roads and most if them are not marked. The unmarked, winding, hilly, dirt roads full of pot holes were common in the 3 areas I visited during my stay.
When I go back, I am undecided if I would drive. I have heard from multiple people rent a local GPS don't bother bringing a north American one with you.
