First time in Costa Rica, La Fortuna our first stop. This bungalow type hotel is close to down town, but not walkable. The gardens and surrounding Forest were outstanding. Howler monkeys were viewed out our back porch . The cabins were okay, more rustic that I thought they would be in need of some TLC, but clean and roomy. Nice open reception area, beautiful pool area with a view of Arenal. Breakfast was buffet style which worked out well when you have an early tour.Dinner was nice and the bar was perfect if not wanting a heavy meal. They also have a hiking path, though we did not see any wildlife, was truly a hike not a stroll down a path be prepared! Staff was friendly and helpful.
A friendly welcome by all staff. The tropical gardens are the most impressive feature of the hotel. You can spend an hour or two watching birds from your balcony. The nature trail is circular and feels like you are right in the forest. The Poole area is a little dated. Buffet style breakfast suits all, lovely inlets made to order. We equally enjoyed cocktails in the bar area. There is plenty to do around Arenal, probably gets v crowded in high season
Hotel with bungalows set in beautiful gardens at the base of Arenal volcano. Bungalows have 2 double beds huge shower room and private garden area with balcony to watch the local birds and animals in their natural habitat. Choice of restaurant and bistro/ bar places to eat. Food very good with large portions , wide variety of foods at breakfast. All staff very friendly and helpful
Wonderful stay at this hotel. The grounds are beyond beautiful. We had 4 ladies in two different bungalows and we had a great time. The beds are very comfortable and large bathrooms! We booked some tours through the front desk. The breakfast was delicious and I could have eaten the entire banana cake - simply amazing. We spent time on our back deck listening to wildlife and had a great view of the volcano. Cabs from La Fortuna to the resort were only $6. Beautiful hotel/grounds/employees. I can't wait to return.
Beautiful accommodation in a stunning setting. Staff were all really friendly, food was great and reasonably priced. Would recommend having a hire car as the hotel is not within walking distance of La Fortuna, however they will organise one of the hotel taxis to drop you off and pick you up when ready from wherever you are.
Gorgeous and secluded hotel at the base of the Volcano. Our room was comfortable and backed up to the rainforest. The hotel grounds were superb and well maintained. We enjoyed the hot tub, restaurant and bar area. The staff there was super helpful and friendly.
My husband and I stayed here our first trip to Costa Rica! We absolutely loved it! My only complaint was the shower water was warm at best. The staff was really friend and helpful! We booked all of ours tours through the hotel which all went super well. We would absolutely stay here again. The views are beautiful and the little bungalows provide a unique feel! It was very clean.
Absolutely fantastic stay! The private cabins are set into a breathtaking landscape, we loved waking up each morning and sitting on the deck to watch and listen to the birds. The facilities were fantastic (kids loved the pool!), staff were friendly and accommodating, food was fantastic. The hotel is a bit out of the way, but all of the adventures of the Arenal region were still easy to access. We would have stayed longer if we could!
This hotel was a great stay. The grounds are beautiful. The Arenal volcano is right behind it. The restaurant food is amazing. It is a little isolated so if you don’t have a car there is a little bit of a walk to get to the road where there are a few shops. The rooms are dark but they are little bungalows surrounded by greenery which is just beautiful. There wasn’t hot water in the shower though. The rooms have porches on the front and the back with great views.
Good bolt-hole in Arenal area. The grounds are spectacular (when you can see them, it’s perpetually cloudy). The rooms are good and have what you need. Good air con too. Hot water a bit lacking. Restaurant does lots of great food and a good spread for breakfast. Staff, especially reception, are fantastic.
