We were a party of 6 staying here as part of a multi centre tour. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable and rooms basic but clean with large bathrooms. The bamboo garden restaurant served really tasty good value lunches . Breakfast gave good choices and bottomless tea and coffee. The town is within easy walking distance with lots of excellent restaurants. We walked to fortuna waterfall but was a little too far uphill! Would recommend this hotel as your base in fortuna

We loved this hotel! The room was very spacious and clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful, especially the host and waiter in the small restaurant. The hotel was like a small nature haven within the city. There was a small wooded area with a creek that ran along side the restaurant. Everyday you could see birds, sloths, monkeys, iquanas and even otters playing in the creek. I highly recommend staying here if possible. We were in room 102. Very close to everything.

We had to split our 6 night stay in la fortuna between two places and this, our first stay, was the hands down winner; really no comparison. Especially considering they were within a ten minute walk of each other and about the same price. Our hotel staff, the restaurant staff, the rooms...all were good. The complex is divided and we had a room without a balcony but a great view of the volcano. The best thing is the grounds that include the bending river and flowers and foliage that attract birds, frogs, sloths etc. I forget now the name of the wonderful man at the restaurant (Luis?) but he did so much to make my stay wonderful as i am an avid birder and he knows and enjoys the local creatures. He called me to make me aware of a toucan and a sloth's sleeping place and later in the dark let us know of a nearby sloth moving in a tree and gave us a light to watch. The feeder near the restaurant at breakfast brings in songbirds and the river attracts a variety of birds. In other words, a little nature park and free guide that is better than being in a group and trying to spot a sloth with a laser pointer. When we moved the few blocks to the centre, it was hard to part with the nature and personable staff we left behind. …

This hotel is located right in La Fortuna. You can take a bus from San Ramone for $5 to get to the city. The hotel is very affordable and super clean. Beds are pillow top and comfy. The rooms all have balconies or patios. The bathrooms have body wash pumps for soap that’s all. There is a safe and mini fridge. Great air conditioning too. The free breakfast is decent and the fruit bowl was filling. They also give you free juice and coffee. The pool is small but nice. During our stay there were only a few people at the pool. Behind the hotel is a stream and a mini jungle. The staff should remove some of the old wood piles in that area as it’s a nice place to explore. The staff are amazing and very friendly. We left small tips on the room and at the free breakfast. You can easily walk from the hotel and explore the area and tour operators will pick you up from the hotel.…

A hotel with a motel feel to it. The rooms were nice with an outdoor area. There us a lovely stream running through the property. You can wander around the mini rainforest there. The restaurant (at the hotel( Bamboo Gardens) is great. They even made me a dish that wasn’t on the menu. We visited the volcano and bathed in hot spring pools. Both experiences were great. We also visited the La Fortuna waterfall. The little town was ok. Eating out there was rather expensive.

This is a great little boutique hotel ideally located in the centre of town. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained, birds, frogs, and even a sloth enjoy the hotel grounds. The hotel rooms are spacious and spotless, and even include a balcony. Excellent breakfast included, served by incredibly friendly staff. We also ate dinner here one night. There’s a pool, a bar, friendly and helpful desk staff. Really loved this spot, and would definitely return.

Hotel with a little river and garden at the back. You can hear the rivers flowing at night. I saw a sloth at the tree close to our room. Free full breakfast has 4 choices, with great fruit, fresh juice and coffee. The housekeeper took time to make our room tidy with our towels folded into cute animals. Room has a private balcony.

We had a great time at Monte Real. The staff were all so friendly and happy to help. Our room was clean and spacious. The breakfasts are freshly made and plentiful. The main town and restaurants are only a very short walk away. Just be careful if you walk to the waterfall which has a big incline the last few kilometres!

Hotel Monte Real offered clean rooms and a bit of the jungle right outside for a reasonable price. A few blocks from the heart of La Fortuna, the hotel is a reasonable walk to many restaurants in town, as well as a short drive to both the Volcano and Waterfall.

We really liked this place, the room was well appointed and clean, the grounds are really nice, and the restaurant and breakfast are great! Its easy to walk into the main area of town, but a couple of blocks from the action which is perfect. The staff (especially Ariana, she was great and really pleasant) was helpful and arranged transport for us to get to our next destination, which we appreciated. For the price, it is a good find, we give it two thumbs up!
