Leaves and Lizards was one of our most memorable stops on our spring break vacation with our daughters. The cabin was adorable with an outdoor shower and the sounds of the rain forest. Debbie spent a lot of time explaining the important connection we humans have with horses. The horseback ride to the waterfall was truly one of the best...

We stayed at leaves and lizards in February 2017 and had an amazing time. It felt very natural and rustic. On our first night there, we had a little walk from our cabin Hummingbird Hacienda to the restaurant and pool. When we got there, we had a small swim in the pool (perfect temperature) looking at the stars. Then we...

This is a wonderful place to spend time if you're adventuring near Arenal. The staff & owners are terrific & helpful & the grounds are truly beautiful with awe-inspiring views. We stayed at the Heliconia house near the barn and had a great stay. There is a lot of room and the back porch is especially nice. It's definitely noisier...

It's in the middle of nowhere and off the beaten path from La Fortuna but it's worth the effort to get to Leaves and Lizards. We had our doubts driving in because the roads are rustic to say the least but keep going, the destination is worth the effort and much better than staying somewhere that looks like all the...

We stayed at Leaves & Lizards for 6 nights over Christmas and New Year's. We have 4 kids ages 16, 15, 12 & 10. My husband and I stayed in the Volcano cabin and our kids stayed next door in the Toucan Cabin. Cabins are fantastic, plenty of room, great lookout. Warning though, there is a climb between these cabins...

Leaves and Lizards remains one of the most unique places in Costa Rica and perhaps, in the world. With a combination of excellent food and hospitality, a fantastic view of the volcano, beautiful accommodation, well kept gardens and trails, and last but not least - THE BEST place to ride horses in the country. The horses here are happy and...

This is an incredible place. We stayed with our 2 children (13 and 11) for 4 nights and didnt want to leave. Their equine facilities and philosophy are fantastic - we are not riders but did a days riding (with 2 hours theory before). The trek was beautiful and we stopped for lunch at a waterfall before heading home. It...

There's so much that's already been said about the pros of Leaves and Lizards. Much of that I'd agree with. But there are definitely some aspects that need improvement. The facility is extremely well maintained. We stayed in the Congo which has a great view of the volcano (visible on clear days) and the countryside. It is a spacious room...

This is a real treat. I've been to 50 countries around the world so I've stayed at a lot of places but this is one of the best. We stayed in the 'Hobbit'. A gorgeously creative room with sculpted white walls and carved wood, a wooden door like something from Tolkien, a long wide balcony with carved table and stools...

Dear Leza and David, Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. It means so much to us, really. We've striven to create an experience that incorporates the elements that we look for when vacationing....a haven -a little bubble- buffering us from the outside world; if just for a short time. Wow, this was the first place we stayed in Costa Rica and nothing else measured up to it! What a truly wonderful place to celebrate our 40th anniversary!
