Casa Luna as it is is a mixed bag but has the potential to be excellent. The main positive is the location and setting. It is set in lush grounds with views of Arenal Volcano which is really spectacular. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the birds. It is also one of the few mid budget options available in La Fortuna. The place sadly needs some maintenance however. Broken or missing tiles in and around the pool are really not acceptable in this day and age. Breakfast was also disappointing with very small portions. The evening meals aren't much better and there are definitely other better options nearby. Overall, would I stay here again? Yes- purely for the location and price.
We checked in at 2 am after a tiring journey from San Jose airport. The porter did not speak English and my daughters Spanish was not really up to it. We were both very thirsty hungry and tired. We were shown to our room where there was absolutely no information about the hotel other than a WhatsApp link which would only be answered during the day shift. There were two small bottles of water in the mini bar, which we drank but this didn’t really quench the thirst. I went out and woke the porter who gave me two more small bottles. The following morning I whatsapped reception to find out what time breakfast was, but received no reply. We went down at 9:10 anyway. My daughter is vegan and there were no specifically vegan options on the menu. The only offering was a bowl of fruit. I went to reception and asked if when they had accepted the booking they had known she was vegan and the receptionist said yes it was in the notes. I then asked if they could make her something special and I was told it was too late as breakfast finished at 9:30. I later found out that although breakfast finished at 9:30 the restaurant was still open for lunch menu. I asked if they could ensure that they could cater for a vegan for the next two days. The reply was that the restaurant “had been informed”. No assurance and no apology. I contacted our agent who spoke to the hotel. I then received a WhatsApp (without acknowledging my original request concerning the breakfast time) apologising and promising to put it right by the following morning. The following morning my daughter was just told she could make a meal by picking any individual constituents from items from the menu that could be considered vegan! The third morning we just skipped breakfast. Maybe if you check in during day shift and you are not vegan this place could be ok I will never know.…
We really enjoyed this hotel and it was definitely a favourite for our daughters! Rooms are a little dark with a small bathroom but still plenty of room and a nice balcony. The real selling point was the hot tubs which we loved relaxing in after a day of activities. Lovely cocktails, best enjoyed in a hot jacuzzi so it doesn't matter if it's raining! Breakfast was good and enough choice for our time there (3 nights). We didn't have dinner in the hotel as we headed into La Fortuna one night and ate at a nearby restaurant which we could reach on foot the other 2 nights.
Wow! I can’t say enough good things about this place. The hotel is close to the Fortuna waterfall with a gorgeous view of Arenal volcano. The room was extremely comfortable and clean, with a mini fridge and full balcony. The pool is great and there are also several different temperature secluded hot tubs as well. The restaurant was fabulous - every entree we had was great and breakfast was generous and delicious too. The staff was kind, attentive, and committed to excellent service. We purchased the romantic package which included a couples massage and dinner voucher - it all was amazing! Every detail from our arrival to departure was PERFECT A phenomenal value and an absolutely magical experience.
This is my second time staying at Casa Luna and it didn't dissapoint. The grounds are absolutely stunning. So many birds and tropical lanscaping. The pool is clean and refreshing. We also got spa treatments that were absolutely incredible. Highly recommend that while you are there. The food was very good at their restaurant and the La Fortuna waterfall is very close by. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful for everything we needed.
Great location with beautiful pathways to room and pools. The best meal we had in Costa Rica was at this hotel where we also enjoyed a fabulous open air massage. I would have given this hotel 5 stars but there was no bedside reading lamp in our room..only the overhead light. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Beautiful boutique hotel with excellent restaurant, walking path, pool, hot tubs and spa. Our deep tissue massage was the best we have experienced! The front desk staff were exceptional- guiding our tour choices, welcoming and gracious!
Casa Luna was wonderful and I would definitely recommend it as a hotel for other travelers to La Fortuna. The hotel grounds and gardens were wonderful to walk around and see all the beautiful Costa Rican flora. The food was very good with great prices for both food and drink. The staff was polite and helpful if we needed anything. They have semi-private hot spring pools which were very nice and relaxing. Our room had a great view of the Arenal volcano (though we couldn't see the top because of the clouds)...side note: there aren't screens on the windows. We did walk into part of Fortuna, just need to be careful as it is a two lane road with no sidewalk (we walked facing traffic) and there were locals walking along the road as well. No issues walking around there. Casa Luna is not in the hustle and bustle of "downtown" Fortuna which was nice. I would definitely recommend this hotel!…
We stayed at Casa Luna for 1 week in Jan and loved the location and the layout of the resort. Its quiet and with lush surroundings, Id recommend a room with a balcony overlooking the Arenal volcano which is quite magical. The location was perfect as there are a number of walkable points of interest and even a small grocery store less than a mile away. Accommodations are modest but very clean and just fine. I would recommend a few tweaks regarding room layout to make navigating around suitcases a bit easier, maybe a few more shelves, but these are small things. We would stay here again as the staff was great, kind and accommodating. The spa services were also lovely and we loved our 90 minute massage and facials. We were very happy here at Casa Luna and the front desk guys were adorable and helped us book additional tours and make the trip seamless.…
Great hotel. We had a huge room with a balcony onto the gardens and a massive bathroom too, all spotlessly clean. I had a massage which was absolutely fantastic and the pool and hot springs were great for relaxing after a long day. The only downside was the food - stay at the hotel but go out for dinner!
