While I didn't actually end up staying overnight in Casa de Papel, I feel the need to express my gratitude to Geovany, who was on night duty and assisted me far above the call of duty. I arrived from the airport to Casa de Papel around 10pm to find it was fully booked (there was an issue with my reservation...

I loved the authenticity of this very original home of an era ago. Much of the architecture and interior design including furnishings and decor have been kept intact, so it was quite an experience to be in it. The very large bathrooms (we stayed in two different rooms during our stay), however, have had minor repairs (exposed pipes and tile...

Was just passing on the way to a museum and stumbled across this amazing building. Definitely on the list to stay here next time. Great atmosphere with a lovely pool. Was told that if you have lunch there, you can stay and use the facilities. Staff was very nice.

I arrived in Liberia at 11pm on a Sunday night and wandered town for 30 minutes because all the other places nearby were full. When I finally found this place it was a relief that the young man who managed it spoke some English and was very friendly. The room was well priced at 25 for one person or 30...

I spent a night here to go to the airport. Both the owner and the young man working the front desk were kind, warm, and helpful. The man working the desk helped arrange a taxi to the airport, directed me to a cafe nearby, and made a pretty good breakfast. I was surprised by the shared bathrooms, but no one...

I'll be quick to the facts: No AC in room, noisy flimsy fan moved the only stale air around because the windows where closed shut and in now way cooled the 34°C sauna of a room. Pool looks nice but if you want an acid peel from the chlorine jump in, our friends bathing suit turned purple from the discoloration....

First off, just so readers know, my ratings are based on hotels in the area and their qualities are compared to other hotels in the area, obviously I can rate a W hotel 4 stars and a hotel inLiberia with four stars and this men's something completely different. So, according to Costa Rican standards and found in the small town...

We had a few days in Liberia at the end of our trip and the staff, especially Adrian (who studied in Texas and has a funny story about Canada), were very helpful with ideas, tours and car rental, and final cab to the bus station. The bus service from Liberia to San Jose has very early times which stops at...

We chose to stay here on our first night in Liberia because our group of 3 were all arriving at separate times and this place had a pool we could lounge around...Upon our arrival the woman who greeted us did not have our reservation. We managed to sort it all out with out English as the lady didn't speak any....

“Note that some rooms have private bathrooms, and some don't. We had booked a room with bathroom, but got there early enough to be offered a choice between two rooms at same price level, and we actually chose the prettier one with shared bathroom. And didn't find that to be a problem at all.”
