We just came back from 7 great days in a condo at the Rerserva Conchal Beach resort. We rented the condo via the Marriott Homes & Villas site and was able to use some Bonvoy points, which made the vacation that much better.
The local rental agent and their team were great. Communication with the local team, Rose and Elizabeth, was great as they were very organized and sent us all the information needed. They were able to get us an early check-in and a late check-out so we were able to get right into the condo when we arrived at 1pm and stayed until our ride to the airport came at 12pm the following week.
Our condo, 3315 in the Cocobolo building was beautiful. It was Huge, with 3 bedrooms, but our 3 kids loved the chance to stay in the bunk room (2 bunk beds). The master bedroom had amazing views of the golf course , water, and even some of the mountains. Not sure why they put the central air unit right outside the master bedroom, but that is the only issue I have! The deck off the main floor was a great place to start our day with breakfast and to relax in the afternoon before heading out to dinner!
We rented a golf cart, so our trip to the beach club was about 5 mins max since we cut thru the Golf course to the great beach club.
Beach club and pool were outstanding. Plenty of kayaking, sups, and boogie boards to use. Chair service was great and the beach with it's natural tree shade was amazing. We ate lunch at the beach club 4 times and had our fair share of the amazing mango and watermelon smoothies. (both kid and adult versions!)
Condo Pool was also great and served as our late afternoon or evening swimming location!
Since we had a golf cart, we ended up eating at 4 local places and shopping at the local market just outside the resort. Papayo's at Hotel Conchal was great. Hard to believe a place in Costa Rica can make some good pizza (and we come from NJ)! We also ate at Patagonia Del Mar, Pleamar (via taxi), and Anders. While all were great, I have to say Anders was the best! We ate early so had the place to ourselves, but Ander and his staff was great. The food was fantastic.
Highly recommend Reserva at Playa Concha. The Westin and W looked great, but if you like renting condos, this is the place, as you get the amenities of a resort, but the independence of renting your own place.

My husband and I stayed at Reserva Conchal for 4 nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary in early November. The property itself is very spacious and the grounds are beautiful. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant and helpful.
One special note is that part of the resort is undergoing renovation; I think this worked in our favor because they upgraded us to the nicest room we've ever had! We were treated to a King suite that had 2 bathrooms, a jacuzzi, two living spaces and the bedroom. Wow! What a treat this room was, with an ocean view as well. This would be a great room if you had kids with you because the second living space had very comfortable couch/beds (seemed comparable to a Casper mattress.)
Overall, all the food on the resort was pretty damn good and since this was low season, reservations really weren't an issue. There were even a couple of nights we did not do reservations and they accommodated us. Now if it were busy season, I can definitely see how you would need to do your reservation. Our favorite restaurant was Bamboo, very good sushi and we liked the many offerings on the menu. Our least favorite was the steak restaurant; the steak was not seasoned at all. No biggie, plenty of other options — and the ceviche at every place was fantastic!
Now while not part of the resort, the beach front area does have some local vendors. I do like how here you tell them no once and they leave you alone, unlike other countries vendors that consistently hound you. Of these vendors we took advantage of the banger $30 beach massage and we also used Erik's services for booking an excursion and airport transfer.
I had read a lot about Erik on TA reviews for this hotel, so I reached out to him prior to our departure and he was very responsive and helpful. He got us set up with an airport transfer ($90 for two people from Liberia to the resort) as well as a waterfall hike and repelling excursion. He was easy to communicate with and I'd definitely recommend his services.
Overall, we had a great time at this resort, my only negative is that there was a lack of entertainment in the evening. This may be due to the time of year we went, but around 8 or 9, we were kind of bored after dinner and would just go back to the room. Other resorts we have stayed at before have typically had entertainment at night. Otherwise, great time and thank you for the amazing room upgrade!

We stayed in a condo in the Carao neighborhood. The condo was nice and clean, but you definitely need a golf cart or car to get around this property because it’s huge. We rented a golf cart and are also able to take it off the property to restaurants outside of the gate. My 2 stars is given for the Reserva Conchal Beach Club. The restaurant is terrible and overpriced. My son got sick after he ate the food there. We also found the service at the pool and restaurant to be lacking. The pool looked dirty and messy by the end of the day, like dirty plates/garbage around the pool chairs and not picked up. It looks like they are building some high end homes and condos on the property and if they want to sell these, they definitely need to upgrade the pool and restaurant as well as better trained workers. I would not stay here again.

This expansive resort sits along one of Costa Rica's most stunning and peaceful beaches. It offers a plethora of inclusive activities, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. The staff members are incredibly helpful, especially those who set up the chairs – don't forget to tip them, as they work tirelessly to ensure your comfort! The hotel bars are included in the package and happily serve beverages for beach enjoyment. We found it convenient to bring our own thermal mugs, which they were more than happy to fill.

We spent a day at the Beach Club and listened to roofers remove the roofing tiles above the Neehan Restaurant and Bar. Our neighbor at Bougenvilla spent top $ foe a beach massage and found it to be the worse unrelaxing massage she ever had. We asked one of the staff if they were going to be replacing all the roofs around the club now and they said yes. Really? HIGH SEASO

Most recently my wife and I traveled with our entire family to the resort. We reserved 3 rooms via our travel agent. The food was just o.k.
Our daughter and grandson's suitcases were inadvertnly placed in the wrong van by hotel staff going to visit a volcano. My daughter realized the mistake at the airport when she could not find her bag. It wasn't until a day later that the hotel realized the mistake and located her two bags. My wife Kristine has spoken to the hotel manager's on a number of occasions over a period of 2 days.We have spoken to Margie on Sunday at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. My wife spoke to Yovan on 2 separate occasions on the 20th. My wife had him on speaker phone and I was able to listen to the conversation. Initially he accused us of not paying our bill, which is ridiculous since we booked the trip through a travel agent. and it was paid in full. After discussing it we simply told him we wanted our suitcases sent to us. He suggested that we travel back to Costa Rica to pick them up, which is also ridiculous. He indicated that he had no mechanism to send them back to the U.S., which I don't understand as Fedex, DHL, etc... provide this type of service. Other than being very condescending and rude to my wife he was no help. We had to enlist the help of a local tour guide in the area to retrieve the suitcases. The treatment by Yovan was very unprofessional and hostile.
I'm sure this is not how Westin wants their guests treated.

I do not dole out many compliments when it comes to travel and resort accommodations. But in this case, I would be remiss not to mention a few words about Angelica Ruiz, who worked the registration process on behalf of W Reserva Conchal.
As recent guests of the W Resort, my wife and I were completely overwhelmed with appreciation for the quality and service that we generously received from Angelica. Not only did she make us feel connected to the best of what Costa Rican hospitality offers, but she went out of her way to make sure that all our accommodations were met with nothing less than a high standard of excellence.
Words could not fill up the page to adequately describe our appreciation for Angelica’s character, but also to say, we feel privileged to have met her during our two trips to the W Resort within the past 3 months. Huge, beautiful resort. All inclusive food was mediocre. Faisanella was very good for dinner. Buffet had huge variety, but definitely not gourmet. Italian and Asian restaurants were subpar. Drinks write included and ok - top shelf alcohol was extra. Had access to Westin facilities, which are great. Entire staff is friendly and helpful. Had hard time getting through front gate due to having a reservation through RCI - not in the Westin computer system. Rather secluded location, long drives to sightseeing spots and alternative dining off-site. Great overall experience.

We had the best family vacation at Reserva Conchal for 18 people ages 4-76 years old. We met Aaron on the beach and he helped us schedule a great full day tour with horseback riding, river rafting, ziplining, hot springs, mud baths, and also a catamaran sunset boat tour. He was very helpful and accommodating. Ask for Aaron on the beach and he will help you with anything you need! He has been helping my family for about 15 years now. Very trustworthy and can depend on his help! 10 out of 10!
