This is an interesting place. First of all, all the pictures are probably about 10 years old that are on the site. This place is definitely run down - the pool and restaurant were closed for 'renovations' but really, they're just closed. The AC didn't work in any of the rooms, things were in general in poor repair. HOWEVER, for...

This beach is at the end of a long dirt access road, and thus, is rather secluded. There is a small hotel on the beach and there were about 5 people from the hotel enjoying the beach and water. Otherwise, my wife and I were the only ones there that arrived by car. We spoke to someone who had been...

If you are looking for peace and quiet and an awesome beach this is your place. The place was nice and clean. There is no service at all, we were not bothered by this, it's like you borrowed your friend's house. Kitchen, fridge, coffee maker, cups, plates, silverware, pots, pans and microwave. They don't take credit cards, a cleaning lady...

Have been there several times and will go back every time I can. THE place to rest and forget the world. Sea ,sky, sun, mountains, hills, sand, fresh air what else can one ask for??? Wherever you look there is beautiful nature and the most beautiful sunsets, . The best exchange for your $ and go back home longing to...

My wife and I ventured out to the Piratas with our SUP tour guide in the afternoon...It was remote and private...we had the whole beach to ourselves. Absolutely gorgeous...we did not stay at the hotel but we enjoyed the amenities for the day and it was great to be that close to the water. Lots of wild life and the...

I lived in the hotel for two years and I have seen the place go from regular, to bad, to worse. The beach and the surroundings are magnificent, the road to it not too good though. We, who love the place are praying things will get better, some day. If you want to stay there, do not mind the current...

The hotel, no don't go there. It is not well kept and sketchy. Great for grabbing a beer or drink from the beach. If you are staying in the area, i.e. Conchal, Matapalo, Huacas, Tamarindo it might be worth the drive to check out the beaches in this area. Minas is a lovely little beach on the road to Pirates,...

I was born and raised in Costa Rica. Every year my family would go to the beach for the holidays. One place we always enjoyed was Pirates Bay. So after many years living in the States, I was anxious to go back to Guanacaste and re-visit the beaches my dad took us to as kids. On our recent trip to...

Pitch a tent-better option than staying at this place. It rained and the roof leaked (roofs covered with plastic), the water was cut off (no shower and don’t drink the water-it came out of the faucet and into the toilet when it flowed-brown). We had scorpions and bats in the villa we rented – all for 200 dollars per night....
