Detailed Reviews
We spent a week at Condor Heights during our first trip to Costa Rica. The condo was spacious, clean, secure, well-equipped and very comfortable. The grounds were so pretty, lots of flowers blooming, parrots, and the sounds of howler monkeys.
We especially liked that the condo was so close to three great beaches, with a beautiful view of Playa Conchal from the balcony. We wanted to take part in the local community, and John and Linda were fantastic with recommendations...we got fresh caught fish delivered to the condo by the local fish supplier, great meals at their favorite sodas, where to catch soccer matches, shopping and more.

We had a wonderful trip and enjoyed our week in the condo very much. This is a copy of the long review I did on the Homeaway site. But one thing that I forgot to mention is that there was even a mid-stay cleaning included in our rental. This was a great benefit and not one I even expected.
REVIEW
Condo - The condo itself is extremely comfortable and I felt that it was a good value. The beds, the furnishings, the decor, all great. It was a nice treat to have AC at the beach too, not something that you find everywhere in Costa Rica. We prepared most of our meals at the condo and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. We found one item that we would have liked to have, asked John and Linda about it and the next day they brought it to us! There is cable TV, wireless internet, lovely patio furniture to enjoy the great view, even a grill, blankets, beach towels....The hosts were also very generous with toiletries, laundry soap, etc. They even supplied bottle water.
Area - The condos are a little off the beaten path and I can't imagine you could enjoy a stay here without a car. We didn't have a 4x4 though and managed fine. The condo is about a 10 min walk to playa conchal (lovely) but we drove anyway just to be able to take beach toys, mats, snacks, water, etc. We explored a different beach each day. Most were pretty much deserted and very lovely. You have a lot of beaches within 10 minutes. This is definitely not an area filled with parties, action and activity. But if you want to relax and enjoy rural Costa Rica, it's perfect! That said, there is a grocery store about 10-15 min from the condo and you can get what you need there or better, bring it from San Jose. We saw howler monkies along the road and heard them daily. We only went out to eat once so I can't really speak to the restaurants in the area.
Hosts - John and Linda really were kind and helpful. They can offer you as much or as little information about the area as needed. They have lived there for 6 years and really know a lot. They treated all of us very kindly and we truly appreciated it. We felt like guests more than customers. My only real suggestion is that leaving a book with some of their knowledge, maps, suggestions would be a great benefit to the condo.
I am happy to answer specific questions from a renter/tourist perspective if you have any: nicoleLcurtis@hotmail.com

We only experienced the restaurant but that was wonderful in and of itself. The food was authentic American which was nice break from the local fare, and the waiter/barkeep was an charming and informative young man that spoke very good English, another plus for us, as trying to blend can be exhausting after awhile. The restroom was spotless as was the rest of the premises.

We used Booking.com to book a stay with this place. Our reservation was confirmed, and I even called them after we booked and was told we were confirmed.
Then, on the day of our arrival they claimed they had absolutely no reservation. Our group had already flown in and we were 30 minutes from the hotel. It was December 30th in the Guanacaste area of Costa Rica when there were zero other options -- the whole area is booked solid. The person on the phone was dry and mocking and it was suspicious that he didn't even take my name or anything. He just flat out said, we have no reservations today for anyone. Then he laughed at me and hung up.
Booking.com confirmed that they had made the booking with them and confirmed that Condor had the reservation in their system. They tried for hours to get ahold of them but Condor stopped taking their calls.
Our vacation was completely ruined and we were out the money we had spent getting there, the vacation time, etc.
Whether or not you use booking.com, the way they treated us makes it clear this place has no professionalism or concern for their customers. Highly recommend you stay away.

The condo's here are very nice and quite new. Only 18 condo's total with 9 in each building. The view from each of the balconies is beautiful with the best from the 3rd floor if you don't mind walking up the flight of stairs. The restaurant and bar has tasty food and specials of local sea food. Spotlessly clean and reasonably priced. Very nice pool area with again a great view of the ocean. A quiet location with access to some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in Costa Rica. You can swim and fish from shore during the day and watch turtle lay their eggs in the evening. Very safe and friendly staff.
The closest beach is Conchal which is a five minute walk from the condos. Other beaches are very close too. Don't mind the bumpy road from Motapola since all of the Costa Rica roads are an adventure. The short drive on the dirt road is well worth what is waiting for you at Condor. We have stayed here 4 times and plan to return again next year. Can't wait. Thanks for everyone at Condor Lodge for making this place special for all of their guests.

Although it is a little bit of a drive from the main road, Condor Heights is more than worth the time. The rooms were spacious, clean, and all the condo patios have beautiful, breathtaking views of playa conchal and several other beaches. And if you don't feel like going to the beach, relaxing by the pool is just as wonderfully aesthetic and right next to the restaurant!
In addition to the beautiful scenery and relaxing environment, the administrators, Jon and Linda, are equally accommodating, hospitable, and kind. It was a joy to stay at Condor Heights and I will definitely return!

These condos are located within walking distance of 3 beautiful beaches. We have stayed here twice. The first time was in bldg 1 and the second time in bldg 2. It seems the condos in bldg 1 are a larger version of bldg 2. Both condos have room for 4-5 adults. The beds were comfortable. The view is beautiful. We spend many hours sitting on the porch listening to the monkeys and birds.
The only bad thing was the restaurant. The first couple of times we went in the service was good. In fact one night the server was really fun. The next night when we returned the same server acted like he didn't know us and ignored us. We had to practically beg to be served. Luckily we had our own kitchen so we could cook some meals then went to other restaurants when we were out.

We spent 10 days at Condor Heights Condos, We were travelling without a car and John and Linda were exceptionally good hosts. Helping us with grocery and bank runs. The area has exceptional beaches within walking distance. The condo itself, was comfortable and well equiped. Sitting on the veranda staring out at the view and listening to the howler monkeys at dusk is a memory I'll carry for a long time!

This is a wonderful hilltop condo with a fantastic water view. It’s private with beautiful views and breezes and a short easy drive to beaches and restaurants. The condo is beautifully decorated, well outfitted and clean. We had 2 adults 1 child and there was plenty of room. We awoke to the sounds of the area: howler monkeys and roosters. The beds were nice and firm; satellite TV; and chilly air conditioning made the stay comfortable. Even in the rain, the pool was always refreshing. The directions the owner, provided were VERY helpful but required a pirate’s navigational skills.
We decided to stay in Playa Conchal because it was close to everything we wanted to do: snorkeling, hiking, secluded beaches, horseback riding, jet skiing and local activities (zip lines, zoo, and river tours). The location is also convenient to other beach towns, grocery stores and restaurants are within minutes away -and the complex safe and secure. Visit the Happy Snapper and get “the happy snapper”.
Thank you again John and Linda for everything. You were wonderful hosts, were incredibly welcoming and helpful. They checked with us to make sure everything was OK when we arrived and were always available for questions and recommendations.
We can't wait to visit again next summer. Stan, Maggie and Emma from Maryland

I have been going to Costa RIca every winter for 5 years. I travel up and down the Guanacaste Coast looking for the "best" location. While searching for a condo to buy, my friend found this area, gorgeous beach, and special property. I had to check it out.
The property is on a hill close to Playa Conchal, one of the few truly white beaches with turquoise water on the Pacific Coast of Costa RIca. The beach has trees that grow close to the water line which allows for shade and interestingly shaped limbs.
Siestas are common either on the soft sand or in a hammock so easily accommodated by the trees.
I found the property to have spacious new condos located close to the restaurant on a hill. The on going breezes are so pleasant while enjoying an unbelievable view of the coastline and other beaches. Reminds me of scenes of the Mediterranian Coast. I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast at the restaurant, and found everyone to be friendly. However, the condos provide a full kitchen. But I felt very comfortable there, and for a single woman this is important. It definitely has a sense of community. Also, it has a pool with an outrageous view right there at the restaurant.
I liked this property because it is sleepy, and the nature of Costa RIca is undisturbed there, you can hear the birds and monkeys. The forest is in tact, yet you have close proximity to the beach. This area has many options for other beaches, local artistry and flavor of the local people, as well as action in Playa Flamingo.
Truly a hidden gem. I've returned several times, and my friends bought a condo there. I love to visit them because I get to explore more pockets of the local culture, and of course the beautiful swimmer's beach. However, I have the option of renting or buying for myself.
I think this area is very special, and Condor Heights Condos property tryly reflects the nature of Costa RIca. I think it is one of the best places in Guanacaste.
