We stayed at Rancho Armadillo on the first half of our Costa Rica vacation, and I am not sure that I have ever been so happy with a lodging pick in all of my travels. The grounds were beautiful and the loft overlooking the pool and with a view of the bay was the perfect setting to relax and soak...

First let me say that Rick is more knowledgeable about what to do and where to eat than any other travel person we have ever worked with. Our family stayed at Rancho Armadillo in two rooms. Both were clean and comfortable. His estate is beautiful, breakfast delicious and every suggestion exactly as he says it. We went to Guatil for...

A stunningly set ranch, just far enough from Playas de Coco to be private. The grounds are amazing, the pool nice and private and the rooms huge and very well decorated. Rick, the owner, is a warm and welcoming character who gives you the grand tour, including the book to note you pool drinks in. A place still run on...

We had spent 10 days in Santa Teresa/Mal Pais and had an midday flight out of Liberia. Given that it is a rough 5 hour drive, I didn't want to drive all of the way from Santa Teresa the same morning we flew. However, instead of staying at the airport hotel, we drove the extra 20 minutes to Playas del...

This was 2nd stop in our 9-day honeymoon and we loved our stay here. We chose Coco b/c my husband wanted to scuba-dive one day. We stayed in an all-inclusive 4 days beforehand, we can only do the AI thing for few days. We checked out the town, tried few restaurants all based on Rick's recommendations. We loved hanging out...

I recently began a 2 week trip here at Rancho Armadillo, I was very pleased overall with the property and amenities. First, let me say that pre-trip I picked Rick's brain on things to do/go and he was the most helpful source I could get, THANKS RICK! We rented a 4x4 which proved to be valuable here in CR (mostly...

Re-iterating what my wife Rosanda said, this was a great place to stay and Rick was a truly great host. Our girls still talk about it, specifically the pool, the relaxed atmosphere and the cooking with Rick. Thanks again.

Rick, our host is a charming, thoughtful host who cares that you have great time. The pool area with adjacent dining room and lounge was paradise for the children and we enjoyed the view. We enjoyed going to the fish market for the catch of the day and then cooking fish with Rick in the kitchen space. The breakfast waffles...

My wife and I had a great trip for Costa Rica. Small open air bed and breakfast atmosphere with a pool and self serve late night bar and kitchen space. Accomodates eight rooms only so no crowds. Great breakfast spread with plenty of exotic fruits and waffles to accompany. Hosted by Rick whom has a great knowledge of area restaurants...

For my wife and I, Rancho Armadillo provided all we were looking for: -Quiet and isolation -Great birding -Comfort -Easy access to the Playa (when needed) The owner, Rick, may remind you of another 'Rick'--the guy from the movie 'Casablanca'; charismatic, a little mysterious, and a world-class innkeeper. He have us plenty of space when we needed it; sat and...
