Owners are speaking spanish and only a bit english. But you will get along with them quite good. Nice to stay there. Beach restaurants were nice and good.

Since our visit was in late March, the temperatures we experienced were around 100 F. at midday (-) So the heat became a factor in all our activities. The pool area and surrounding landscaping were 1st class; pool water was wonderfully clean and refreshing (+) but every morning there was a class from a scuba school using the pool for their instruction all morning, every morning and occupying the entire pool (-) Breakfast was beans and rice, scrambled eggs, toast, fruit and coffee. Every day. No variation allowed. Large birds insistently swooped down onto our food when we were off-guard to pilfer our eggs or toast(+?-)
The A/C in our room was barely up to the job. The hotel economized wherever possible, so the A/C was only turned on upon our arrival, at which time the room had already become stifling hot, and there was scant way to conveniently air it out. The first night was hellish (- -) We had to plead with management to allow us to keep the A/C running when we left the premises, as it was their policy to turn the unit off when the maid made up the room, around 10 AM to Noon.
The room itself was spacious and quiet(+) The bathroom was ample, but no shelves for our toilet articles (-) There was good and plentiful hot water, sometimes an iffy commodity in other comparable lodgings at the price (+) There was no stopper to make filling the sink possible (-) We improvised, a skill which we recommend as a substitute for complaining when traveling abroad. The beds…ah, the beds: Very Spartan bunkhouse. Same for the pillows. And the blanket? Nonexistent, of course. Who needs a blanket when sleep as such will only be occurring in heat (- -)
WiFi is offered free of charge, but reception is iffy, not so much from the hotel itself but I suspect from a source beyond, so that Internet cuts in and out on a fairly regular basis. And our room was just remote enough from the modem so that we only got the smallest wave of the WiFi icon (+?-)
The family that oversees the hotel, who may also be the owners, couldn't be nicer. They seem always eager to serve, and did on several occasions help us out of reservation mixups with our reservations at our next venue. And they non-verbally let us know that they wished it could be better for all their guests (+++)
So there it is, our review. Add up the + and - and you will understand why the mixed review.
"There are some boisterous roosters towards the back of the property. Cabins #10 is closest to the roosters. #5 was great!"Read full review
