The food at the resort has come a long way. It has a decent variety and it should do ok with the kids. There are also many good options in town which are a short walk from the resort. As for meals purchased in the hotel restaurants, you can pay at the end when you check out. I would recommend the breakfast because it has the elements that you would want - even for kids including eggs to order, tropical fruits and pancakes, etc.
