My wife and I just got home last night from Casas del Toro in Playa Flamingo and we are so happy we made this choice for our vacation. We usually choose 4 or 5 star all-inclusives but we have always found them sterile and lacking in any true local feel. My wife booked us into Casas del Toro and I originally had some trepidation as we didn't know for sure what we would find in this resort or the trip in general. What we experienced was an absolute delight from check-in to checkout wherever we went. Muni greeted us at reception and made us feel at home. Our room (#7) was clean, in good repair and spacious with a/c in the sitting area and bedroom. The grounds were beautiful, the pool big enough for laps and the included Costa Rican breakfast delicious. Everyone here is friendly, helpful and welcoming. The other guests are also friendly and happy to share tips about where to eat or visit and it's worth noting that many are repeat visitors. Ask Muni or Leo about places to eat (the local sodas were our favourite spots). We rented a golf cart (from Pablo at ECCR) instead of a car and it got us to all the neighbouring beaches and was MUCH more fun. The local bus also stops in front of Casas and it will take you to those places if you wish. I really have NO negatives that I can think of about our time in Costa Rica. If there was something not right it was a "first world problem"- suck it up. Thank you Muni, Leo, Laura, Deja, Isaac and everyone else at Casas del Toro. For the first time ever in our travels we plan to return.

Beautyful place special for weekends They have great green areas such gardens around the pool and Barbeque tiki where we had one of the best asado we ever had I really recommend this place for families couples or friends . The price is reasonable and great atmosphere

Stayed here for a week as the hotel is owned by the same owners as CPI, a Spanish language school nearby. The staff is charming and helpful and there is a lovely pool, which is a great way to cool off, as the daytime temperatures can exceed 90 degrees. There is a good laundry service. The units are equipped with a kitchenette, which is convenient as there is a supermarket about a 10 minute walk away. The rates are very reasonable. A breakfast is included, although the choice is somewhat limited.

We stayed here to attend the CPI language school and were so pleased with these accommodations. Our room was spacious and comfortable, breakfast was local fare, and staff were all lovely and helpful. Playa Flamnigo is hot this time of year, so the beautiful green courtyard in the hotel was a welcome reprieve, as was the lovely pool.

Casas del Toro is a jewel among the various places to stay in the Flamingo beach area. When my son found out we were traveling to Costa Rica again, the first thing he said was, "We're going back to Casas del Toro, right?" The grounds are beautiful and tranquil and exude "Pura Vida!" We loved relaxing in the hammocks or by the pool after the beach. Our suite was immaculate and well appointed for a very restful night's sleep. We enjoyed the breakfast included with our stay each morning that featured typical dishes. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly and the service is excellent. We ate at the restaurant for lunch and dinner and the food quality was exceptional. We'll be back ... again!

I have just stayed with my family (group of 9). 6 comments on our stay: 1-) Upon check in, I found in the room the dirty cups of coffee of the previous customer (half way filled), and when I gave them to the Reception, Receptionist mentioned they were left because they “were in a hurry to give us the rooms”.... (Side comment we never pressure to have the rooms ready before the check in time, moreover is no excuse to receive a clean room upon check in...). 2-) we stayed for the New Year’s Eve dinner, confirmed weeks before the number of parties for the dinner. At dinner, food was served at different times (i.e, appetizers came first for some and late for other), drinks came after appetizers (after a friendly reminder) and before 22:00, without having ordered dessert, we were told the kitchen was closed and we had to pay.....this was our “lovely” New Year’s Eve dinner....Upon check out I informed the receptionist about the situation and her only comment was “que pena” (what a pity...). 3-) breakfast was not good, we have old tortillas served on the second day of our stay. 4-) sink in one of the rooms was dirty with grease/oil, from previous customer. 5-) they never charge the coffee in my room and my sisters ‘ room was never filled with coffee again, even if we had the cups. 6-) dirty pillows in my brother in laws room. I do not think they are prepared nor have a client service orientation. I would not recommend it, nor would come back.

CPI Spanish Immersion School arranged for my family of 4 to stay in the apartment and a connecting room. The interior is spacious with clay tile floors. The air conditioning is located in the bedroom only but there are ceiling fans in every room including the bathroom. The complex is located at least 100 feet into the property so you don't hear the noise from passing cars, motorcycles and trucks. Wi-fi is available but reception is spotty depending on where the Wi-fi router is located. I was able to watch Netflix which offers more movies due to the licensing for Costa Rica. There is closed circuit cameras in several locations and electrified wires are placed above the walls that circle the property gives you the feeling of security. A small laundry room is located near the office but labels on the washer/dryer combo are in Spanish. The grounds are nicely landscaped with fountains, mango trees, tropical plants, and hammocks. Playa Flamingo is a 15 minute walk if you use a trail that goes though a meadow. a'lo Nico is a little cafe that is only 1 block away. It offers delicious food at reasonable prices. A buffet breakfast is included which consisted of Gallo Pinto, eggs, sausage or bacon, queso fresco, pineapple, watermelon, juice and wonderful Costa Rican coffee. Alvie was the manager who very helpful. Staff are friendly and speak some English. I highly recommend Casas del Toro especially if you have a family.

Hello Carl! Thanks so much for your insightful review. I was holding on to replying until we made improvements to our services. We currently have more English speaking management staff, (two native speakers). We were able to improve our wireless connections at the lobby, pool and rooms in the Casas del Toro Boutique area, and stabilized the fast speed Wi-Fi service in Casas del Toro Hacienda. Our restaurant has a new redesigned menu, offering a wider variety of dishes. We have plans of expanding our room capacity, as well as extending and diversifying our green areas. If you ever come back to Casas del Toro, you will definitely feel a positive difference. I just love this place. The grounds are kept so nicely. They use great plants and landscaping that does not require gobs of irrigation, which is great for the hot area with scarcity of water. The hotel is situated in a perfect place with GREAT pools. My family was in the pool for hours each day. Staff is very caring and genuinely smiles and want to help. I liked having an equipped kitchen but also having the restaurant option as well. Finally, LOVE that deep maroon/wine colored walls out front!

Casas del Toro is a beautiful sanctuary to unwind and enjoy time away. The vibe there is chic with Spanish-style flair. It's just minutes away from Flamingo beach with other beautiful beaches only a short drive way. Our apartment was perfect -- impeccably clean and appointed -- just like the gardens, and fountains that create a tranquil ambiance no matter where you are on the grounds. The food is excellent -- typical cultural cuisine to seafood, salads and ribs that my husband and son couldn't get enough of. The staff is friendly and extremely accommodating. We were warmly greeted by the managers with beverages and a tour or the property. I hadn't felt this peaceful in months. We loved it so much we extended our stay! We will be back!

I came here in early August with my 8 year old daughter and 18 year old son. The apartments are beautifully decorated and well air-conditioned. My kids loved swimming in the pool after our Spanish classes. We met tons of other families with kids as well. There is a small store with snacks, toiletries, wine and beer on the property. They also offer a wonderful breakfast buffet with a different menu every day. This was our 4th trip to this location and we have never been disappointed. The owners are constantly improving the property and the services. We can't wait to return.

Unfortunately, the shuttle transportation from Liberia airport is not included in the apartment rates, but we offer private transport from the Liberia airport to our guests at a reasonable cost, usually the price of a private transport from the airport in Liberia is between $ 85 USD or $ 90 USD one way.
The special price for our guests is $ 70 USD one way or $ 130 roundtrip.
If your flight will be at 7.25 am you need to leave from the apartments at 4.00 am, because the airport is like a hour from Flamingo, but you need to be at the airport 2.5 hours before your flight.
