Likes: location is good if you have a car. Enjoyed seeing wildlife especially howler monkeys. Layout is nice with “jungle” walkways and lots of privacy. Enjoyed spending time by the pool to get out of the heat, should...More
We stayed here for 3 nights while on our honeymoon. The staff were extremely friendly and helped us celebrate by giving us a couple of complimentary drinks by the pool when we arrived! Our cabin was wonderful and always had beautiful flowers and towel animals...More
This hotel has some great positives and some cautionary items. Would not hesitate to recommend with several notes. First the good. The pictures are accurate. We were there in dry season so the grounds, which are irrigated, were a beautiful and lush respite from the...More
This small hotel made up of a cluster of bungalows was an oasis of calm following our day of travelling.

Prior to traveling to Costa Rica I researched extensively for a quiet, somewhat secluded, self catering cabin-resort in a tropical setting with a shaded pool close to Playa Samara and Playa Carrillo. The surrounding topography is rugged from tectonic thrusts, somewhat pastoral from cattle ranching,...More

We rented a car in San Jose and drove ourselves around. I know there are many services and tour buses that may be good options, we did not look into these so I can't really recommend one over another.

Greetings from El Pequeño Gecko, Playa Samara. We receive all the year long couples and families without a car. We are located at 1,5 kms from Samara Beach and town, that means only 5 min by car (or taxis available all day for $4), 10 minute by bike (bikes can be rented at the hotel for $15 per day), or a beautiful 20-30 min walk along a quiet, flat road. Dark is coming at 6/6.30 pm in Costa Rica and walking at night is safe.
Please let me know if you need more information, I will answer with pleasure
