Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel is widely celebrated for its serene environment, enhanced by lush gardens, tranquil pools, and private beach access, as guests often note the perfect blend of seclusion and natural beauty. The hotel's prime location is also a hit, providing easy access to both the tranquility of the beach and the convenience of nearby shops and restaurants. The cleanliness of the hotel is consistently lauded, with its well-maintained grounds and clear pools.
While the rooms are generally appreciated for their comfort, some guests suggest they could benefit from updates. The service at Jardin del Eden is frequently described as warm and attentive, adding to the hotel's peaceful yet stylish atmosphere. Though the hotel's rates, including breakfast and dinner, are seen as good value by many, there are occasional remarks about extra costs and meal quality.

Resort has beautiful grounds, associated beach area was nice, staff/service was great, and food was good (not great, but what do you expect when included in room rate?). Would I stay again? Yes. Overall, hotel is nice. Some of the reviews I read pre-trip set expectations too high.
A couple of notes to set expectations: 1. Our plane had mechanical issues which delayed us by 3 hours. I let the hotel know out of courtesy since we had coordinated transport to/from hotel as part of our reservation. They responded with an invoice for ~$56 dollars due to an airline change within 24 hours. I responded that it was not a schedule change and reiterated that it was a mechanical issue. No response. I did not pay the added charge. 2. Water pressure in our shower was low to moderate, had a loud whining noise when running, and the temperature would range from cold to medium to HOT without touching the lever. 3. Rooms are nice, but to live up to the hype of some of the reviews they could use an update...see item #2. 4. We were on ground level in Romantic Star room and had a few roaches during our stay. The second one left trapped in an upside down glass so housekeeping would be aware. 5. Post departure we were charged for mini-bar item(s) we did not consume/drink. In fact, we left additional items in the room that we had purchased at the liquor store across the road. Point being, we left the mini bar fuller that we received it.
Again, Overall a nice place and we'd stay again. Just a few minor frustrations I share to help set expectations for future visitors. I'd say overall the hotel is a 3.5-4.0 star with beautiful grounds and a great staff.

Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We truly appreciate your kind words about our beautiful grounds, beachfront area, and the service provided by our staff. It’s great to hear that, despite some concerns, you would choose to stay with us again. We also want to acknowledge the points you raised. Regarding the transportation charge, we sincerely apologize for any misunderstanding and appreciate you bringing it to our attention. As for the water pressure and temperature fluctuations, we will have our maintenance team look into this to ensure everything is functioning optimally. Additionally, we follow strict pest control measures, but given our tropical location, occasional encounters can happen, we will reinforce our efforts to minimize any inconvenience. Regarding the mini-bar charge, we always strive for accuracy, and we regret any confusion in this regard. If you have any specific details, we would be happy to review this further. We truly value your feedback as it helps us enhance our guest experience. Thank you for setting expectations for future visitors, and we look forward to welcoming you back for an even better stay.

This is our second time at this hotel in the past year and it is just an amazing hotel. The staff is wonderful and personable. They take the time to remember your name and the things you like. The food is really good and so are the drinks. Definitely go see Kevin at the beach bar. He makes the best mojitos!!!! My husband and I will be back next year and hopefully every year after that. Also, get the romantic star room. It does not disappoint. The sunsets from that room are memorable!!!!

We spent the first leg of our honeymoon here and had a great experience. We typically don’t write reviews but learned from many locals how helpful they are for their businesses.
This hotel was awesome, breakfast every morning and delicious dinner every evening. You select from a menu what you want for dinner each night so you know you are getting fresh prepared dinners.
Our only complaint was the cost of bottled water, but there are numerous markets a very short walk from the hotel.
They have a private beach area which was nice (with a pool), and if you came here to surf this hotel is a great option with its location to the beach and rental shops.

My husband and I were looking for a relaxing getaway, and JardĂn del Eden delivered on that experience. Upon our arrival we were greeted with welcome mimosas. We stayed in their most standard room but it was very comfortable and the AC worked great. I loved opening up the windows to hear the birds chirping and the morning (and sometimes the monkeys howling!). The breakfast buffet was excellent — great spread and variety of local and traditional foods, including mimosas. I love how dinners were included in the rate too; I would give the dinners a 4/5. Some dishes were better than others. The pasta and fish dishes were the best as well as their soups. The drinks were affordable as well, which was great. The grounds are beautifully maintained; it feels like you’re in a tropical paradise, especially with all the wildlife you encounter (monkeys, iguanas, centipedes, butterflies, and even saw a bat). The property is on a hill so be prepared to climb some steps/inclines and get out of breath if you’re out of shape like me lol. I enjoyed the access we had to the beach garden right across the street. There are two pools on property — wish there was a jacuzzi, but I get that some people pay extra to have those on their balcony. The service was excellent — everyone very friendly. I would love to return back in the future! We were sad to leave! Pura vida 🤙🏽

Response from Tamarindo Diria, Propietario at Jardin del Eden Boutique Hotel
Just returned from spending 7 nights at the peaceful and comfortable Jardin del Eden hotel with my boyfriend and only have positive things to say about the resort and staff. After researching a few different hotels in the Tamarindo beach area, I am glad we decided on this one as opposed to their sister property the Diria Beach Resort Set back from the main street, the hotel is quiet and feels very private. The rooms of the hotel are spread out across the property – we stayed in a Premium Plus room and it had a spacious terrace with two chairs & a table. The bathroom was big and the A/C and ceiling fan worked well. The bed was very comfortable.
As far as the grounds, they are luscious and well maintained – you feel like you are in the jungle with the sounds of the birds and monkeys and the vibrant vegetation. We loved hanging out at the pool when we weren’t out on an excursion. We never had an issue getting a lounger in the sun or a shaded cabana and there are always plenty of fresh towels. It never feels too crowded and its nice that there are no noisy kids splashing around. There is a private walkway that leads out to the main street and if you cross the main street, you can access the private beach front garden area they have. We didn’t spend any time utilizing the beach garden area since we enjoyed the pool so much.
One of the best things about this hotel are the meals that are included in the rate. Breakfast and dinner are included every night and the food is actually very, very good. For breakfast they have a spread of fresh fruit, yogurts, breads, cereal, and a few different hot choices each day. There is also a chef station where you can order fresh eggs, omelettes and Belgian waffles. During breakfast, they present you the dinner menu for the night so you can select your courses & dinner time. We dined at the restaurant every breakfast and most of our dinners and we were never disappointed with the food. It was a good variety and very gourmet. Alcoholic drinks are not included in the price however the pricing was fair and their drinks were made well.
Finally, I must say that every person working at this resort was friendly and smiling. They always greeted you and were more than happy to serve you. Endy was awesome and always made sure we had what we needed and that we were having a good time. My boyfriend received a massage in the spa area by the pool and said it was good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to stay in the Tamarindo area. It’s close to the action if you want it but a relaxing sanctuary if that’s what you prefer. The only drawback is that I would not recommend this hotel to someone who is not very mobile – there are stairs throughout the resort and I don’t think they have any elevators.

This was our first time in Costa Rica and we couldn’t have asked for a better resort to spend our honeymoon at.
We spent 7 blissful nights between late October and early November at this jewel of a resort with an ocean view room that took our breath away every time we looked outside.
The location is amazing; you can walk everywhere in downtown Tamarindo and whether it was day or night, we felt safe. It was easy to get to and from the resort to anywhere around town.
They have secured parking included which was a great option for us as we had a 4X4 vehicle. A must have in Costa Rica for those off-road Pura Vida adventures.
We truly felt like we were living in paradise, the friendly staff made our experience that much more incredible and enjoyable.
Merlin and Leonardo at the front desk were the perfect hosts and guides during our stay.
Sylvia at the concierge desk put together some incredible adventures for us; of which we will not forget. Even saw a humpback whale breach (at a safe distance) while paddle boarding during our Catamaran adventure. Thank you Sylvia!!!
Kevin at the beach bar provided us with the utmost service and tended to our every need; even let us suggest and play beachy ambient music during our stay. Had great conversations about travel and such and felt like talking to a close friend. Cheers Kevin!!!
Javiera (Javi) was our incredible Yoga instructor and sound healing Guru and took us on an amazing journey of self healing and relaxation of the kind that we had never experienced before.
The amazing chefs, wait staff, along with Andy at the bar at the Plumeria restaurant insured that our daily brunches and exquisite dinners were superb every time.
Myron and the professional grounds keeping crew always insured that the resort looked its best; always so welcoming and friendly.
This is one of the most fantastic and peaceful resorts we have ever stayed at, and would definitely go back 100%
This resort along with their incredible staff made our honeymoon a trip that we will cherish and remember for the rest of our lives.
They are the epitome of what “Pura Vida” should always be.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Jonathan & Aaron.

Wow. This hotel is incredible. Rooms are stylish and comfortable with a huge (bigger than super king UK) bed. We had a balcony with great views over the bay and gardens, from where we saw howler monkeys and the biggest iguana we’ve yet seen in Costa Rica! They provide the best buffet breakfast we’ve had yet, with myriad choices of fresh fruit, cooked or continental style breakfast, or pastries (or all of the above!). The grounds are impeccably kept, with a team of gardeners constantly tending the plants, lawns, and painting and touching up anything that looks less than perfect, and the pool is always crystal clear and cleaned at least twice a day. This place is peaceful and relaxing and there are always a few spare sun loungers by the pool. There’s also another plunge-sized pool over the road, right on the beach, with a bar. I came here with my husband as part of a big birthday celebration and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommended.

This lovely small boutique hotel exceeded our expectations. The welcome was friendly and efficient and the glass of mimosa was very welcome. The view out to the sea from the reception area is stunning and sets the tone of your stay from the start. The reception staff were always smiling and efficient. The view from our room (14) was absolutely stunning and it was by no means the most expensive category of room in the hotel. We were delighted to get this room and enjoyed the view of the sunset from our balcony every evening and watching the howler monkeys every morning. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful in the lovely dining room, you could even start your day with a glass of fizz (bliss!). Unlike other recent reviewers, it really did not bother us having to order diner at breakfast (for the two of us, with only 2 choice in each course and a pudding, it was simply a matter of ticking each box and ordering one of everything so we sampled everything that was on offer). Every dish we ate was delicious for every night of the 5 that we were there and I would strongly disagree with the suggestion that it was "pre-prepared" and just "uncovered". We had the option to eat in the larger sister hotel on one night but we did not bother as we enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant, the service (special thanks to Richard who was endlessly cheerful and charming) and the food too much to risk being disappointed elsewhere. The beach "club", a short walk down a landscaped and lit "lane", was just wonderful and exactly how I like my beach experience: shaded loungers, small pool to dip in, bar serving delicious cocktails, excellent barbeque food and salads for lunch freshly cooked to order, clean toilets and grass under your feet so you do not get pesky sand in everything. The beach vendors were not allowed in to annoy you but provided an endless passing show and you could feel the vibe of the beach and wander onto the sand at leisure. We found the swimming/bathing in the sea to be excellent. The rip tides/currents are very strong and I was worried before we came that we might not be able to get in the water but we could as it was so shallow you were never at risk as long as you did not go too far out. It is mostly sandy under foot in the water but there are rocks revealed at low tide and it is obvious where you should swim as you follow where everyone else is. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for the relaxing end to your tour of Costa Rica!

This resort is beautiful with all the lushness of a tropical rain forest even though you are a short walk down the hill from the beach. The food is gourmet and just delicious. We enjoyed having the included breakfast and dinner at the resort but also appreciated the opportunity to venture out for lunch. The location is great, being steps away from Tamarindo's main road and beach but secluded as well. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the manager, Leonardo, who truly cared when we had some minor problems on our first day. He was also a pleasure to talk to during our stay and made us feel very welcome. For the room, we liked the firm mattress as it was soothing when laying on our backs and the air conditioning worked well.
A few tips: the terrain is hilly with a lot of stairs to the front desk. There is no elevator so anyone with real mobility issues should not stay here. The travertine tile is beautiful but can be slippery on the stairs in the rain and around the pool area. Just wear shoes with rubber bottoms. Bring lots of DEET or other mosquito repellent but not Picardin as that did not work very well. Use at meals and around the pool. The standard rooms for the lowest price are a little small with minimal view. More ventilation in the bathroom with some hooks for hanging wet items would be a nice addition. The 'spa' looked like it was outside behind curtains near the pool area. Without air conditioning, I'm not sure how anyone gets a massage since it gets very hot.
Other tips: The bartender, Kevin, arrives at the beach bar about noon. You can then order food and drinks from the beach area. There is also a little cafe across from the beach, next to Jardin, called Sunrise Cafe that had excellent food. Brisas Mar, within Tamarindo Diria hotel, was excellent for our substitute dinner one night. If you stay four nights at Jardin del Eden, you can eat at one of the Diria's restaurants. Be sure to try their Sangria! On our last day there, we went to the little store down the road to bring home Salsa Lizano so I could cook my own authentic Costa Rican Gallo Pinto. The price was double at the airport.
Thank you Jardin del Eden for a wonderful vacation!

The reviews for this hotel are very good and you can see why. The grounds are beautiful with stunning views and the restaurant and pool areas are very clean and well maintained. The beach area is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel down a private path, this has a very tiny pool, a great beach bar and stunning views of the incredible sunsets. The only thing I would say is that you don't get the sun on this area after lunch as the trees shade it, we we moved back to the pool after lunch. I think that more could be done with this area, but a lovely place to sit and watch the sun go down nevertheless. I don't mind the walk to the beach, we have had that before and I think they did it well, but it might not be everyone's cup of tea. The location is good, you are very close to the hustle and bustle of the town, but once you are in the hotel, it feels very peaceful.
Our room was spacious, the bed comfortable and the shower good. We had a small garden patio with a hot tub, which was lovely. We were in the furthest room from the pool (still close), but it was closer to the maintenance area and there was some noise when sitting outside. I would try and avoid room 45 if you can.
The food is good, but it isn't a proper al la carte restaurant. There is a choice of 2 dishes each night, which you choose at breakfast and I found it very red meat heavy. I found myself longing for a piece of chicken. There is the option to eat over the road at the sister hotel, which we did do, just because the menu was a bit repetitive (although, not as repetitive as the playlist!). And that all worked well.
We also found that there was yoga at the hotel, which we didn't find out until the day we left, which was disappointing, so I think there could have been some better information.
Overall, a lovely hotel and I would definitely stay again, but I am not sure it quite lives up to the hype.
