We really enjoyed our stay at this nice little gem of a hotel. The cabins are very clean, a good size, pleasantly decorated, comfortable and quiet. Many rooms (ours did) feature a cute private terrace with a hammock , table and chairs. Great spot for morning coffee and afternoon Happy Hour. The shared kitchen is well maintained and clean, it's...

In our hotel in San Jose we found a brochure for the Cabinas Guarana, liked it and decided to try it - good decision. No trouble with booking the rooms via internet (upon arrival we even got a small discount for paying cash). The room - including a small safe - was spacious, bright and clean. So was the bathroom,...

My vacation there was actually in October 2012, but back then I didn't know what was Tripadvisor and now I have taken the initiative to write smth :) Oh my god, I will never ever forget that vacation. OK, let's start from San Jose - I took a bus from there to Puerto Viejo. We traveled through a national park,...

These folks are friendly, helpful and totally accommodating. The rooms are pleasant las is the property. It's far enough from the beach so you can get good sleep at night without loud music. A small patio with a hammock is perfect for lazing and enjoying the greenery and local fauna (lots of lizards and birds). I saw a review that...

I absolutely loved my 4 nights in Cabinas Guarana. It was a perfect choice for me. I arrived by Mepe bus from San Jose so it was great to just have a 2 block walk to find it. It had everything I needed - comfy bed, clean, bathroom with warm water from the shower, mosquito net, ceiling fan, safe, balcony...

Decent bed, good atmosphere (no glass in the windows, so the rain was so relaxing at night). Service was ok (have had better), felt secure at all times, loved having a safe. Could be a tiny bit cleaner (mainly the floor, was a little greasy, but not a big deal). Would probably stay again if I went back to PV....

We stayed for one night before moving to cheaper accommodation that had more. For $36 here you get the bare minimum. There are better options around town for $25 that include a TV and are cleaner. The wifi doesn't work in the rooms. The grouting in the bathrooms leaked and would not drain. There was no atmosphere. The beds were...

A bit of tropical paradise by the sea. The gardens were beautiful and the cabins are fight in town. The shower was a bit difficult but other than that it was a simple, no frills, paradise location. There is a communal kitchen but you are only feet away from some great places to eat.
