The hotel owner advised that we book our tours (turtle tour / canals tour) through them and not anyone else selling tours along the way, saying that those tours sometimes turn out to be bogus. So we waited and booked the tour through them - big mistake. Our canal tour was due to start at 5:40 am, so we woke...

We only reserved a room here because Casamarbella wasn't available for a third night (as an aside, the folks at Casamarbella were right, two days in Tortuguero is enough). The place did not look as nice as Casamarbella, but looked okay. We never got to see a room, as they had lost our reservation. After giving them the date we...

We stayed here for 5 nights and thought it was very good value at a low price. We had a room on the top floor with private bathroom (hot electric shower). The building is a little aged but then so is all of the town and that is its relaxed Carribean charm. There was a lovely balcony overlooking the nearby...

We looked at a number of hotels before we decided on Miss Miriam 2, which was one of the nicer hotels we saw. Accommodations are very basic and rustic. The room had one double bed and two single beds, and there was a bathroom. This is simply a place to sleep, nothing else! So manage your expectations... We had trouble...

My kids (6,10,12) and I stayed at this hotel. The price was good ($40), the room was very clean, we had free WiFi (spotty at times), our room had a bathroom and the hotel was located just a short walk to the beach. The owner was friendly and available. He even helped us get our bags to and from the...

Decent value rooms, hot water and free wifi. Good location near the beach and only a few minutes walk to the village. Breakfast is not included but for $5 you get a big fruit plate and eggs and bread. Bring rain gear as it can be very rainy in Tortuguero

Miss Miriam 2 is a comfortable place to stay. I had a room on the second floor with a private bathroom and fan for $20 per night. There's also wireless throughout the hostal and nice common areas. It gets really hot during the day to be on the beach but they have a nice deck that has a cool breeze...
