Tortuga Lodge is simple in presentation and style, and to me, in keeping with the serenity and simplicity of this part of Costa Rica. The rooms are cooled by breeze or fan and are comfortable. The service is excellent, and the food was delicious. You can choose the level of activity you want to engage in. We found the wild-life...

Dear Nancy, Thank you for mentioning the presentation and style of the lodge. When we think about this, we think of getting in tune with the Tortuguero River, which runs in front of the lodge. The service style is personalized, informal, caring. No background music. Our food is what a Costa Rican grandmother would cook if she was also a...

Staying at The lodge was an experience i wont forget. The staff were professional, courteous and accommodating. Everything we needed for a quiet getaway was There. Tours are available thru the lodge. They are small so you will get a more personalized experience. If you want to go into town you can take their shuttle boat or call a Boat...

Dear Michelle L, When we train our staff about the standard of service that we strive to deliver, we tell them that we want to deliver Legendary Service that will create Unforgettable Memories. I am delighted to hear that you won't forget the experience of Tortuga Lodge. You're right, the lodge is quite small. We have only 27 rooms, the...

We enjoyed three nights and there wasn't a single detail we were not fully happy with. Arrives was quick by landing on the nearby airfield. The room was clean and sufficient for us. Food was better than expected, this holds for breakfast, lunch and especially dinner. The best part were the tours that allowed us to learn about the ecosystem....

Dear MarcusMUC83, Thank you for mentioning the size of our tour groups. You're right, our groups are small, we guarantee that there will be no more than 12 guests. We can do this because we are a small lodge, only 27 rooms. The other lodges are much larger and the often have groups of 24+ people on their tours. We...

Dear JohnofHarpenden, You're right, Tortuguero is the place to see wildlife in Costa Rica. We highly recommend a kayaking or motorized boat tour into the park with one of our Naturalist Guides. For complete descriptions and prices of our tours, visit our website. You will also find photos and biographies of our guides. Vacation Time is Precious! Natalie Ewing Director...

We loved this hotel!! The restaurant is amazing and had many vegetarian options. The staff was so friendly and the room was very clean. We only stayed two mights but wish we had atleast one to two more. The boat tour of the national park was great. Definitely bring a good rain jacket because it rained a lot even at...

Dear Gypsybij, Great to know how much you enjoyed the vegetarian options! I'm not a vegetarian, but I always order something from that section when I'm there, the options are really tasty! You're right, there is so much to do in Tortuguer AND it's such an inviting place to rest and relax and charge your batteries before going home that...

Tortuga Lodge should not be missed in any trip to Costa Rica. It is nestled privately along a narrow river giving the feeling you are in a unique world of your own not populated by a lot of other tourists. The suites are roomy, extremely clean and well maintained (in the midst of a jungle!!). The staff are professional, tour...

Dear cvirlaes, Thank you for taking the time share your feedback with people that are considering us for a stay. We had a great time, the staff were all amazing, we visited the school which was an additional experience, wish we could have spent more time with the children. The food was fantastic. Dear Ivor_and_Sally, It's great to hear how much you enjoyed our food! Our kitchen staff makes a huge effort to please our guests, but as you mention it is hard to get supplies to the lodge and very little is grown locally. We are delighted to hear that there was not one thing you didn't enjoy. Please do come again!...

We loved the silence, the nature, the room with the nice river view, the trails, the animals (monkeys, birds, sloths, iguanas, kaimans and turtles), the food (which was really excellent), the English lesson with the 3 boys (thanks Noily), the guided tours with Norton (kayaking as very special to us) and of course all staff (at the reception, at the...

We loved the rustic, laid back feel of the resort. We were greeted by the amazing and friendly staff with fresh squeezed strawberry juice. And each time we returned from a tour, we were greeted with another type of fresh squeezed juice....so yummy and refreshing! The rooms are comfortable, including the bed. Dear triper69, It's good to know that you were able to connect with nature while you were at the lodge. We purposely have only screens on our windows, no glass.
