Located in the Rain forest reachable only by boat this iş something so different that you have to experience it. We had excursions with a very knowledgeable guide in the forest, along a river and to the turtle beach at Tortuguero town. Now, after hurricane Otto I just hope most of the place survived.

Very large tour group hotel Rooms very nice Food ok, but clearly everything is run as a machine Bar area very poor No internal space and don't forget this is a wet area?! So little to do if wet and your itinerary is changed. Would benefit from provision of umbrellas in rooms and a rethink on space. New bar at... More

Friendly waitstaff and wonderful guides. Interesting boat trip to get there. We were not there during the turtle season, but were able to see the nests and the shells. Food was good and included in our package which was really helpful since it is not in the town. Lots of animals, gorgeous grounds with so many varieties of flowers and... More

Tortuguero and Isolation are synonymous, but the journey reaching Pachira Lodge is part of the charm. We traveled from San Jose (4 hour bus ride) plus a one-hour boat ride so you get to see a lot of Costa Rica before you even arrive at the lodge. The lodge is located on the main canal directly across from the village... More

This is a great place to base yourself while at Tortuguero. The boat ride to your hotel is interesting enough, you get the idea of the network of waterways that support a huge variety of wildlife. But when you get toward the lodge, the boat pulls up at a fantastic lodge complex. There is a main covered but open air... More

Fantastic location, you arrive at the lodge after an hours boat ride, adding to the remote feel, watch out for the wildlife on your way in,especially the large crocs! Tortuguero by far the favourite part of the trip. Rooms are in a block of four, but be warned the wall of the adjoining room doesn't quite reach the top,you get to know your fellow... More

Part of the Thomson's Grand Tour of Costa Rica. This part of the tour was fantastic, you board a boat with your luggage and off you go down the river towards your hotel, travelling through the rain forest waterways. On arrival to your hotel on the river, you head past a big swimming pool towards the bar area. Rooms were... More

The boat ride to get here is great on its own, but once here the closeness to nature is brilliant. Room are small and quite nice, not luxury, but who cares. No AC just a fan and no glass in the windows so you can hear everything, which adds to the experience. Dinning area is very nice and the food... More

The lodge is accessed by water taxi, which took nearly an hour. This alone was an exciting experience and added to the feeling of remoteness of the accommodation, located at edge of the Tortuguero National Park. The accommodation is in rustic wooden lodges, with just mosquito nets for windows. With only a ceiling fan, it is very warm to sleep... More

We stayed at Pachira Lodge for two nights in September. The rooms are small and basic, with no air conditioning, no TV and screens in the windows rather than glass. This is perfectly in keeping with the location though and I don't think anyone would stay here and want to spend much time in their room. The pool area is... More
