This small hotel (twelve bungalows) is very well-organised and, although expensive, offers good value for money. The hotel arranges for your collection from your San Jose hotel and you travel with just the small group of guests who are joining the hotel that day. On route, our guide was very informative and stopped to show us a mother sloth with...

It is quite a long journey to get to Tortuguero but, once we had done the difficult bit, of getting across San Jose, we were looked after very well and all went very smoothly. We were greeted on arrival and shown our room before a spot of lunch and then our first outing - a short trip across the canal...

My family with two boys had the whole place to ourselves last June. The accommodations with AC were very comfortable. Food was great. Pool was clean and had a nice view of the main canal. We saw iguanas, canopy lizards, many birds, toads, blue jean frogs on the property. They were very accommodating. My husband didn't feel well one day...

Tortuguera is an extraordinary place. Unfortunately the hotels and all the tourism destinations here take advantage of that and don't offer very optimal experiences. This hotel considers itself exceptional because it offers TV, an a la carte menu and air conditioning. The food was fine but nothing special. Most visitors would only value the air conditioning. With some active onsite...

My wife and I spent 3 wonderful days at the Manatus, our room was clean and well maintained. The place is quite old but well maintained, and that added to the charm of a small and personal place to stay. The restaurant was very good, food was tasty and service was excellent. The bar was well stocked. Best part of...

If you are looking for a small, quiet well appointed hotel, this one is for you. With only 12 rooms, you are guaranteed an intimate experience. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The wildlife tour guide we had was extremely knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna, as well as the history of the area. Highly recommended!

We went to the Manatus Hotel for a family trip. All twenty of us (three generations) ages 74 down to youngest at age 7 enjoyed our stay there. Sergio goes above and beyond to make sure everything goes smoothly. Jason, Alex and Joel gave us excellent service at the dining and bar area. Food was good and plentiful with several...

stayed in none of their 12 semi detached accommodation. they are all airconditioned but do check that the air-conditioner does cool the room. the temperatures are around 35-36 deg C and sometime warmer in the room than outside. Meals are in an open air (with roof cover) and is close to the bar and pool. Don't forget to take mozzie...

My wife and I stayed here as part of a tour of Costa Rica. The 'Manatus Lodge' property is only accessible by motor boat and consists of a reception office, restaurant and 12 separate 'lodges. There is a covered walkway linking all of the lodges to the lagoon jetty, office and restaurant. Each lodge has very efficient air conditioning and...

Tortuguero is such an amazing location that we cannot agree more with you on your description as “a beautiful and special place”. We hope you will decide in the future to visit this mesmerizing Caribbean spot and that will choose Hotel Manatus again as your place to stay. Thanks for all your good comments!
