Pleasant and comfortable lodge with friendly staff. Bird watching from the boats was enjoyable. Tortuguero is a relaxing place to wander round. All round a nice place to spend two or three days, or more if doing nothing is what you want.

I highly reccomend the Manatus Hotel. Cant say enough great things about the hotel, the staff and the food! The tour guides that are employed by the hotel are amazing and very knowledgeable of the wildlife, flora and fauna of the river.

Bathrooms were really poor. I don't think they have been updated in 20 years we stayed at beautiful resorts and this was the last one. Restaurant was full of flies and bugs Made our stay disappointing.

The Manatus is a small friendly hotel, right at the gateway to Tortugero National Park. After a long transfer from San Jose, we were greeted by the staff with a cooling fruit drink before being shown to our rooms. We were in bungalow number 4, which was close to the main office, thus we had very good wifi signal. The...

Left Manatus hotel this morning - sadly to say. The hotel is in the most beautiful setting in the Turteguero National Park. The hotel provided our transfers - and couldn't have been better. The staff were helpful, friendly, and professional. Nothing too much trouble. A very personal service is provided. We took two boat trips along the canals which were...

I agree with previous comments this hotel is fairly basic but it has everything you need. The staff were very friendly and fortunately the food in the restaurant was good given that there was nowhere else to go. Really felt that you were in the heart of the park. The 45 minute boat trip to get there was also enjoyable

This is a very good hotel but not 5 star. The rooms are bungalows and are large with two double beds, a small basin/toilet area and large shower; there is no hot water in the basin. However, there is a big bonus of the air conditioning. The wifi was patchy, I had to go to the reception area to get...

The recent reviews are very fair in respect of the slight negatives of management and food, but we were very happy with our stay here for 3 big reasons. The air con was very efficient and this was a massive plus in a challenging full on jungle climate- the room was surprisingly comfy given the location. The property is much...

First the positives .... The Manatus Hotel is wonderfully located very close to the entrance to the Tortuguero National Park. Even in the grounds, there is wildlife to be seen. In general the staff are very good and efficient though when you are one of the last few tables in the restaurant, they make it clear they want to close...

Arrived by water transfer on hotel's own boat. Wonderful trip on the various waterways. Spotted plenty of wildlife thanks to our guide Luis (freelance for hotel). Hotel is relatively small - only about a dozen rooms but spread out and plenty of space. Rooms were of a decent standard, not the height of luxury. Air con was most welcome (apparently...
