We stayed a couple of nights during Holy Week, in one of the bungalows located on the top of the hill. The view of the ocean and beaches was wonderful, and the sunsets, really spectacular! The beach is near from the Hotel, walking 2 or 3 minutes, which is very beautiful. At night, we enjoyed to be in the balcony...

My husband and I stayed here, we loved the atmosphere the place is clean, and we had a truly amazing view of the beach! Not sure if all the cabins have the same view though... the staff was friendly and the breakfast was nice. Gallo pinto and eggs.

We were in the top cabin which was quite a hike but worth it when we got there. Our cabin was very functionable and the views were amazing. We would have liked it to have been equipped with a kettle for making tea and a small fridge as once you're settled for the night there is no way of making...

We love coming to the Blue Jay, and have found which cabin we enjoy the most. Our preference is for a tree top view because we like the view. It is spectacular! Be warned, the only way to the tree top cabin is by using stairs. There are 71 steps from the parking area to the tree top cabin of...

Excellent place to rest. We stayed for a couple of nights and the Bungalows are amazing, very clean! Breakfast on time and delicious. The bungalows are away from the street. You can get to the beach in 5 minutes.

We stayed at Blue Jay Lodge for a couple of nights in June and had a pleasant experience. The bungalow we stayed in felt like being in a treehouse as it had a large deck sticking out into the forest. The walls were open- floor to ceiling netting and curtains for privacy; so this is not the place to come...

A nice place, we found 2 frogs on our room. Comfy cabin, clean and we had a lovely view to the ocean. It seems that their pool is not available 24/7 which is a real bummer for my opinion :/ we were at the pool around 9.30 pm and the lights just went completely off without any notice. The breakfast...

So affordable. An amazing view open net walls with howler monkeys and iguanas all around you. Such a quiet beautiful place. Great balcony you can see the see. 5-10 minute walk to the beach. Lovely people. I just loved this place. The area and beach were my favorite in all of Costa Rica and this was my favorite place there.

Amazing bungalows with spectacular sunset views. Comfortable beds, hammocks lovely. Didn't feel too welcome in terms of service, particularly at breakfast and when asking questions. Definitely felt in the way. Very, very hot in Mal Pais so would recommend that Blue Jays either put 2 extra fans in each room, or even a fridge. The kitchen/reception/pool is quite a hike...

“Upper level rustic rooms are unique and fun.. We love this type of thing. If you are looking for a conventional room, perhaps one of the ones with a/c would be more suitable.”
