This small hotel is one of the most exotic places we've ever been to. This was a family vacation, (my parents, husband, and three kids), we stayed in two junior suites which feature direct ocean view so you can enjoy the (best-in-the world) sunsets from your own balcony surrounded by thick tropical vegetation and the sound of birds and howler... My girlfriend and I spent a few relaxing days at this gem of an hotel in mal pais in late July, early August 2016, and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with the hotel, towns around it and the hotel hosts, namely Esvin, who was extremely informative, friendly and accommodating, having helped us finding the best deals for tours and activities... People from the hotel was nice ... a peacefull and relax place... The breakfast was really good...

We stayed at Casa Moana, the house behind the hotel and it was wonderful! Four spacious double bedrooms, plus a child's room, all en-suite and with great views. Lovely open plan ground floor with well equipped kitchen. Outside it was simply stunning, with an amazing infinity pool and lots of seating/lounging space. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough and really... More

We arrived 5ish after a nightmare drive getting lost in the back roads from Liberia. Esvin was great. We chose a junior suite as it had great views even tho up lots of steps. We had power cuts after storms so breakfast service was somewhat restricted on two days but it was all done with great charm so we weren't... More

We stayed in Moana lodge for 3 nights. Our room was the Deluxe Garden View 'Iguana', situated on the lower area from the lodge, close to the reception. The room was very clean and beautifully furnished. All the amenities you need are there: coffee and thee maker, minibar, safe, a tour guide book, fan, A/C (which was very welcome, because... More

I do recommend Hotel Moana. Friendly staff (even if they didn´t attend to all my needs). Magnificient restaurant at the hilltop. I know, many people complain about the 100 steps. But I promise you, it´s well worth the trouble. The view is great and watching sunset is breathtaking. By the way, if you get there early enough - enjoy the... More

Hotel Moana is a beautiful hotel located in the rustic area of Malpais. The pool, restaurant and setting were very pretty. The rooms were tastefully decorated. We stayed in a Junior Suite. We chose this as we wanted a view of the ocean and imagined sitting on the balcony enjoying the view. One wall was all windows and though beautiful,... More
