Stayed here last year, was a terrible experience! hostel itself was okay, not too dirty, I was in the front room next to the front door, this is on one of the main intersections in San Jose, do not expect to sleep past 4.30am in this room ... eventually got moved upstairs when a bed free-d up. This room was... More

We had seven of us on our trip and we stayed at Casa Colon last few nights in San Jose. There was no problem getting a last minute dorm room - we had the whole dorm to ourselves, the room only had one cleaning fan but the heat was not bad at all although we had chilly nights in San... More

we spent the first 2 nights of our costa rica trip in hostel casa colon. the rooms are really pretty and clean, but the traffic noise is almost unbearable - maybe they should think about different windows or rather install a window in the bathroom! breakfast is very expensive but not worth the price. the employees at the reception are... Room was clean, staff was friendly, and the food wasn't bad. If your in San Jose its definitely a good choice. We stayed on our first night in CR before taking the bus to Monteverde, which was a 15 minute walk away. Limpio, seguro, y bueno. Me gustaria visitar mas.

The few times I have been to San Jose the hotels I have stayed at were away from downtown. Casa Colon is located within walking distance of the center of San Jose, the futbol stadium, the huge city park and many other interesting sights. For the price I opted to stay in a dorm room. The room was clean as... More

I stayed there with a group of 50 people and they were very very accommodating. They went out of there way to make sure we had a convenient stay. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff were very good and on top of things. We got to know the workers and they are great people. I will definitely be... More

The hotel is located on the main street of San José, near the shopping area and near restaurants. We had to share the bathroom, but it is very clean. Breakfast is freshly cooked: you can chose between different options, such as gallo pinto, toast with eggs or yoghurt with cornflakes.

Casa Colon is a great colonial house maintained with style. The rooms are spacious and the mattresses comfortable. However, it was not possible to sleep there. We were in room 107 which was located at the back of the hotel amongst "staff only" rooms and so there was noise until 1 am and starting again at 5 am. Recommendable if... More

We are glad to hear that you liked the colonial aspect of our Hostel! We want to keep the house the most conserved as we can. In the other hand, we apologize about the noise experienced. Normally the restaurant closes at 10 pm, we will corroborate what happened, to prevent it from happening again. Thanks for let us know about... More

We stayed in the room in the back of the hostel. Although the only window showed the sinks of the downstairs shared bathroom area it was very calm and nice to sleep.
