We stayed at Hotel Santo Tomas for one night and had a good stay. The hotel is quite characterful with traditional decor and helpful staff. It's well located. Our room was small and felt a little confined. We had chosen the cheapest option though. We had some English channels on the TV. Perhaps a little overpriced. Overall a good stay.

Hi Laura, Always best price on the hotels direct website, that can be tricky to find sometime, gotta check: remember those big companies don't work for free. Your feeling that way most probability got us those three dots, bummer. Yes, we have full cable with channels from all over the world. I hope you had a chance to enjoy the...

This is a GREAT Location! Walkable to so many things. Is it the four seasons, no. Is it quaint and adequate, yes. Room had a faint mildew smell, but you a. quickly realize that everywhere and everything in San Jose gets wet…. A LOT and the mildew and dampness is unavoidable and b. you get used to it quickly –...

Hi Gwendolyn, Yes , we are in the green season now and will be for the next month to 6 weeks, just means even more lovely flowers in our garden areas ! Wonderful to know you enjoyed the free hot cooked breakfast, served by the pool area. If staying several days , buy yourself a nice avacado or some really...

I have to admit I was a little hesitant booking this place, based on some previous reviews. I was pleasantly surprised upon arrival. I loved the classical architecture. The place was clean and well maintained. The room and bed were comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast was freshly prepared to order. I had the opportunity to speak with the owner on...

We read some reviews about this place, but reality was even better. We booked the hotel for 1 night, and then when we got stuck in San Jose a few days later, we knew this would be our pick again. The rooms are big, clean and comfy. There are different types of rooms- the first night we booked from booking.com...

Hola Maya F: Hey , that just can't get any better: Thank You ! There are five different room types and they all offer a different experience. I recently visited San Jose, Costa Rica again in August 2016 and as previously I chose Hotel Santo Tomas. From the hotel, the owner Tomas, the bilingual staff, the friendly and courteous maids, the cooks, ground personnel, all the employees, the hospitality, cleanliness and the gated community environment is a winning combination which all hotels should emulate. I am never...

Howdy Eugene, Always a pleasure to have you return and see your smiling face. Outstanding you celebrated your birthday this year in Costa Rica: how much fun is that! It's so rewarding for my staff and myself to have so many return clients. You always stay in the newer section upstairs and that, is just a lovely place to be....

I stayed several nights in Hotel San Tomàs before and after my visits to San Luis Morete and Jaco. I stayed in both large suites and smaller rooms. Both were luxurious. The hotel, the former casa of a coffee baron is filled with antiques and period furniture that harkens to a bygone era. The staff is bilingual and extremely helpful,...

Hi PRW1964, What a short , well written and wonderfully descriptive review, Thank You ! I love that term ( By Gone Era ) that is exactly what we are trying to provide, a wonderful sense of Costa Rica in the years gone by. This is the second time we've stayed in Santo Tomas.
