We stayed here for only one night and although the mansion is really quite beautiful with museum like artwork, it would not be a place I would return to. The gentleman that runs it doesn’t really have the warm personality that you need to be a B&B owner. The breakfast was just so so. Edible. It is in a part...

Wow, where to start. First, the owner seems like a nice guy but he had an odor as if he had been drinking a while and smoking. As much as I liked the 6 animals that were there (3 cats & 3 dogs) they made the place smell pretty bad. Also, I've never had so many flea bites in my...

We initially intended to stay here one night at the start of our Costa Rica trip but we ended up staying another 2 nights at the end of our trip. Michael, the owner, was *very* helpful and a great host. The villa is very comfortable and it is more like being welcomed into someone's home. The location was actually pretty...

The Raya IS located in a somewhat shady part of San Jose. The surrounding buildings were covered in barbed wire as was the entrance to this B&B. The good...Michael is an awesome guy..very interesting and a gracious host. Tons of pets, great stories and a heck of a cook. The bad..tons of pets which contributed to a heavy pet smell....

This gated Inn is a real gem! The owners are American and very cool. For those who care, they have two adorable dogs and a few cats. The place is spotless and an easy walk to the colonial district and a zoo, nearby El Mundo restaurant and some museums. Michael will hook you up with a driver and a tour,...

My first visit to Costa Rica began at Raya Vida, on the recommendation of a friend-of-a-friend who owns a B&B in the US. It exceeded all of my expectations, and I have returned there frequently, bringing an assortment of friends who all have agreed that it is an exceptional place, with exceptional owners. Don't be deterred by the statement in...

It is was a pleasure to arrive here. I enjoyed my trip to Costa Rica and the sun, natural beauty, and warmth of the people. There are features of this inn that may not appeal to all- it is tucked away, very hard to find, and not in the best part of town, though it is seemingly safe enough. The...

“If renting a vehicle, although Michael was very helpful in assisting with connecting me to a rental service, I think I may have gotten a better rate had I done it independently. Not Michael's fault the car rental was higher than initially quoted and we didn't get a 4 wheel drive, but if that is who he usually reccomends I may go elsewhere for car rental next time.”
