I stayed at Tranquilo's back in 2009 on my first trip to Costa Rica. The service was pleasant and helpful, rooms were simple but clean, bathrooms had nice tile decor and showers were functional. Overall, it was great for the low price. Good location too. I especially liked the pancake/fruit breakfast! Two years later I when I returned to CR...

It's cheap, the location is ok, you can meet all kinds of people there and the kitchen is useable. I lived in Costa Rica for one year and everytime I was in San José I stayed in the Tranquilo Backpackers. ok, there are some holes in the floor and in the ceiling, but the beds are ok and you can...

I was in Costa Rica for four months on two seperate trips during 2010 and 2011 and went to Tranquilo Backpackers every time I was in San Jose and had nothing but good experiences on my eight or so stays there. It was cheap, had free internet, free calls to anywhere in the world (phone was linked to Skype), free...

Went on here and noticed all the reports of bed bugs ranging from as long back as last year so it's pretty disgraceful they haven't even tried to do anything about it!! I have...

I have been there in nov '11 and in feb '12 and can only recommend it! Of course, not everything is perfect. The breakfast for example is ok, but not really good. I don't want to complain becuase actucally I think it's nice that they offer breakfast at all, but this pancake just tastes like nothing. The dormitories are ok,...

The management could the guests a big favour and knock on the neighbor's door and save the poor dogs that obviously are in trouble and/or pain. Since 3.30 this morning what sounds like a puppy has been weeping, launching a never ending bark cascade from the parent dog making it completely futile to try and fall asleep. Sad.. otherwise a...

I really enjoyed this hostel, each room had its own hammock, a nice one at that, spacious room, spacious porch-good place to hang out. The kitchen was convenient and clean, the bathrooms the same. Close to the beach and the rest of town. Very happy with this stay.

Thank LCMars
