I have thought long and hard about writing this review, but I think other travellers should know this. On first impressions the Hotel and Apartments very nice (apartment if a bit dated and tired) but was fine. Both have large pools and well-kept grounds. The Apartment offered was a nice size, clean and Mirna’s staff were friendly, helpful, cheerful at first. Mirna herself gave us a choice of an apartment or private villa, advised the safe and the aircon was included in the price, we (four friends were happy and thought how lovely, idyllic looking over the pool on the 1st floor spacious and 2 toilets, met all our needs, so we took room 204 in the apartments) and set to enjoy the holiday, good location, nice food at the Hotel pool restaurant, adequate hotel bar, all seemed lovely, hotel had a jetty to board the river taxi to the beach, hammocks and swinging chairs under the trees at the riverside , we had a choice of 2 pools, what more could you ask. This all changed rapidly when we returned to the safe to find money was taken from all four of our wallets/purses. We had kept the safe key with us at all times. When we returned to the safe to get money out to use, we discovered a certain amounts of Sterling was taken from each money wallet/purse mainly in £20 notes. Not small amounts, £160 from 2 friends. £100 from another friend and £80 or possibly £100 from another. One of us had the Sterling clipped into £100 batches and £40 was taken from each bundle. In my individual money wallet there is secret (hard to get to) compartment and whoever accessed the safe had time to search through our wallets carefully and relock the safe on the first occasion and left it unlocked the second occasion. The amounts taken from the safe happened over 2 occasions the first time 2 friends discovered some sterling missing and took Mirna aside to inform her and she would not accept it could happen, said it was impossible. Foolishly we thought this was a one off and we still left money in the safe, only for it to happen again, how foolishly trusting we were. Plus we aslo foolishly thought the security would be better after one incident was reported to the management/owner. I have been to Turkey many many times and never has anything remotely like this has happened before. Both times Mirna as manager and the owner (who we think may be her father) refused to believe us and both advised us “it is not possible no-one has a spare key” and “no-one has access to the rooms” it was like talking to a brick wall. Clearly, they do, as it happened. On the first occasion one of the party contacted easy jet and on the second occasion one of the group insisted the hotel come with us to the police. Mirna was not compliant and advised we had to contact Easyjet and go to the police ourselves or with an Easyjet rep or she could arrange a taxi for us to go to the police. Both times the missing money was taken, all four of us friends were out of the apartment and we had left the room key at the reception, so all staff, etc, knew the apartment was empty of occupants, as there was only one key and four of us we had no choice to leave the key at reception if any of the four of us needed to go to the room or returned before one another. On several occasions the apartment reception desk was unmanned for periods of time (on the last day we sat in reception waiting for the our pick up for some 40 minutes and no security or reception staff ever manned the desk – not very security conscious in my opinion, especially after thefts had been reported) other guests came and left keys and no one was there to put them away behind the reception desk. Mirna made the missing money experience all about her, far more worried for her and the hotel/apartments reputation, than the fact we had had a lot of money taken between us from the apartment safe. Her utmost concern should have been to apologise and do everything she could to assist us, not to meet us with a brick wall. The rest of the holiday another 5 days was completely spoilt with trying to find an easyjet rep, reporting it to the police etc, etc, etc. We personally then kept our valuables with us from there on and that in itself was stressful and worrying, as we had all taken sterling only and to carry large amounts of money to the pool and to the bars/restaurants, but we had to do this as we knew ‘someone’ could access the room and safe. Mirna at one time asked us to contact Easyjet and ask to be moved as the relationship had broken down (really she did not want other guests knowing). After the police attended the apartments, she said everyone knows now the police had been, the CCTV does not show the rooms only the grounds, so no proof anyone entered the room or the safe and the police have also suggested that she/Asur apartments remove the safes from the rooms, all a little too late as at this stage as the whole experience had left us short of money and had ruined our much looked forward to, holiday. The staff were all very sombre in our presence from there on, which was further upsetting, as we felt like leapers, when we had already been the victims of theft. Hardly any staff spoke English and used translators on their phones to communicate, this in itself is not good, Mirna was there sometimes but not all the time. For me the whole experience has been extremely upsetting and completely ruined what could have been a lovey holiday with friends. I would never return to Asur again and advise to anyone would be to avoid the apartments full stop if they want peace of mind their valuables/money will be safe.…
