I had the pleasure of getting to stay here for two nights. Annie, Jordan and all the staff I met were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities that you need. I ate both nights at the powderkeg and both meals were great. The indoor hot pool was a lovely surprise. Definitely recommend.

My goodness. We spent our Easter weekend with the family and decided to head back to Wellington early to beat the traffic. I love mountains, so asked my wife if we could stop in Ohakune instead of anywhere else. She graciously agreed and I made a same-day booking for the Powderhorn. It is one of the best decisions we have...

This was a real surprise package. It is essentially a ski hotel although it was late summer when we tried out the restaurant. A very interesting wood construction building, well worth a look around. Oh, and the food was pretty good as well! We did not stay at the hotel (we prefer motels) so my answers below are of little...

Very nice hotel in High Sierra style, warm rooms with beautiful wood furniture, a very comfortable bed and a complete bathroom that includes a heated wardrobe for drying your clothes in a wet day. The receptionist was extremely friendly too.

This is a fantastic place to stay in Ohakune. The whole venue has a wonderful atmosphere, made from natural timber. All the staff are very friendly and professional. We received absolutely outstanding service, which exceeded our expectations. The reception and management staff allowed us to change some of our arrangements so we could have more rooms for our guests. They...

Our stay was booked for one night by separate sightseeing tour operator. A lovely choice. All wood architecture. Staff courteous. Room clean and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast both good. Just not enough outlets.

More a vast alpine chalet than a chateau, the Powederhorn, and its restaurant, the Powderkeg, offer quality, comfort and good service in a semi-rural setting. There is a beautiful bush walk within a few minutes walk as well as a charming walkway to Ohakune, two kilometers away, along a pleasant fast-running stream. There are glimpses of Mount Ruapehu above the...

The hotel is designed to look like an alpine chalet, and it doesn't hold back. Every wall, ceiling, even the floors seem to be clad in pine. However it is a comfortable stopover. The rooms are a good size, but like other reviewers we suffered from noise from an adjoining room. The walls are paper thin. Breakfast was disappointing and...

We stayed 2 nights and we were not disappointed! The Powder Keg restaurant was perfect and we had dinner and drinks there two nights. The room was perfect mountain ski lodge feel and comfortable. We (2 adults and 9 yr old daughter) hiked the alpine crossing and the hotel staff arranged a r/t transfer and 3 bagged lunches. The transfer...
