I wanted to get out and enjoy Alaska. Not only is Talkeetna a cute little town, but the roadhouse was a neat place to stay. It's affordable for sure. It has a very hostel like feel to it. If people being close to you and sharing a bathroom is not your thing, move on to the next option. It's an...

Nothing can beat getting away for the weekend with family. You will find this place charming and exactly what the doctor ordered for some R&R. Memories to last a lifetime. Coffee in tbe morning and puzzles in the evening. A great way to reconnect.

Perfect little gem in this quirky little town. This lodging option was just perfect for 2-5 people. It is truely a one bedroom apartment! Fully furnished with a double bed in the bedroom and a single bed and double futon in the living room. Perfectly decorate in the 1950's style. I wanted to take it all home with me! The...

Our room was one of 3 above the lobby below. We could hear people below talking until 3 am, then they came up and made loud love. Then at 6 am, the showers started which was 4' from our bed. If you want a quiet nights sleep, this is not the place. It was more like a hostel with food...

This is a true roadhouse. Rooms are 100 years old, upstairs three rooms share a bathroom, downstairs rooms and "cabin in the back" share restrooms. We stayed in an upstairs room with a queen bed plus a twin for our grandson. Downstairs is the cafe & bakery, plus common areas to relax and play games or read. Treat it like...

My daughter and I booked a room the "Museum Room" through the Roadhouse website. Upon arrival checkin went quickly and smoothly. The Museum Room is just over the road from the Roadhouse. The room has a kitchen, living room (with a twin bed) and another bedroom. It's clean and very adequate. Plus - the location is fantastic. You can walk...

Sourdough from 1902, hotcake as big as your face! When I was trying to decide on my breakfast order I questioned wether one hit cake would be enough? Throw in some mixed berries and fresh jam and wow! I'm stuffed! Great atmosphere with the community tables.

Talkeetna Roadhouse - Museum room Double bed in a separate room and sofa bed. Full kitchen. Small bathroom. Iconic older style, a bit run down. Everything was clean. Thin sheets, old pillows and old blankets. Steep stairs, openable windows, noisy fan, no AC. In the centre of town, easy walk to everything. Lovely reception staff.

Every year, The Roadhouse allows us(The Denali Knitters) to move in, take over, and have the best winter break of all time. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and in some cases, just plain lovely. When February rolls around, the Roadhouse lets us cure our cabin fever in the very best way. The food is great, the location perfect, and the...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Roadhouse, built around 1917, is one of the oldest establishments still in operation on Main Street in "Beautiful Downtown Talkeetna." Our kitchen is open to the public and we've become famous for big breakfasts, hearty soups, homebaked breads and genuine frontier hospitality. Our bakery produces all sorts of treats each day such as pies, a variety of cinnamon rolls, cookies, cakes, brownies, and savory pasties. The historic end-of-the-road town of Talkeetna is known today throughout the world as the base for international climbers making their way to climb Denali (Mt. McKinley), North America's tallest peak. Denali and the other peaks of the Alaska Range offer a magnificent backdrop for this picturesque town of around 800 people, located about two and a half hours north of Anchorage and halfway between Anchorage and Denali park entrance both by rail and road. The guest rooms range from private to hostel-style, rustic cabins to the school teacher's apartment located above the Talkeetna Historical Society Museum. Bathrooms are "down the hall" in typical Roadhouse fashion, and even though a bathroom has been added to Trapper John's Cabin, guests can still use its 5-Star outhouse! Breakfast is a separate charge but we provide our guests with coffee/cocoa/tea throughout their stay. ... more   less
