Spent two nights at the Gadsden this past weekend. What a wonderful old hotel in an otherwise average town. The Gadsden is a holdover from Douglas' glory days when the Copper Queen Smelter was in full production. The lobby is definitely the draw to this hotel. Beautiful architecture, high ceiling, grand marble staircase, stained glass windows and skylight highlight this...

My husband and I stayed at the Gadsden in order to attend a function over the weekend. We stayed in room 108 (facing the lobby on the second floor) which is one of the renovated rooms. The Hotel is old, charming, and the staff if very accommodating. The room itself, while updated, was small- but that is normal for historic...

The Gadsden Hotel has been on my list of hotels to visit for a while. I do love an historic hotel and the history that goes with it. Other reviews have cited its history. The elevator is the oldest one in Arizona at 109 years old. Marble columns, a marble staircase, and the Tiffany ceiling and glass windows make the...

We knew going in this hotel was pretty run down but I wasn't prepared for how bad it really is. First let me say the staff were all wonderful and the bed was actually very comfortable. The lobby is beautiful and there's lots of history to rummage through. But that's where it ends. The rooms are a disaster, not just...

We only stayed one night at this historic and beautiful hotel but it was great! Keep in mind it is old so don't expect high end accommodations. Though some rooms have been renovated within the last 2 years. Otherwise older but quaint rooms, comfortable bed and Gorgeous lobby that is all original. Tiffany glass mural and ceiling and marble staircase...

Arizona Highways recently did a feature on Hotel Gadsden, which prompted an overnight trip to stay specifically at this hotel (the highlight of Douglas). I purposely did not take into consideration the state it is in and its location (in a border-town that doesn't have the best economy) knowing that many historic hotels do not have the comforts of... say...

A trip back in time. Perhaps the friendliest hotel we've ever encountered. Everyone here LOVES their job. Don't expect lots of amenities as it is an historic, old hotel. Expect great service, spacious rooms, GREAT Mexican food in the hotel restaurant, and comfortable beds with quality linens and baht towels. There is no central heating, they provide a space heater...

We saw this hotel written up in Arizona Highways and wanted to see if it lived up to the review. IT DID! We were on our way east on I-10 and figured that the journey was as important as the destination. So we opted to detour down to Douglas and stay there on a Sunday in mid-October in lieu of...

This large 140-room hotel has no heat. None. If it's cold outside, which it was when I was there, the temperature inside is as frigid, if not more so. Space heaters provided by the courteous staff are of no help. Back in the day, 1907, when this was a booming mining town, this must have been quite a place. Ghosts...

We stayed in one of the rooms on the 1st floor. We brought our Boston terrier dog a long as well. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. Bring your camera as the lobby is quite gorgeous. At night, unaware to the staff my husband and I walked all the floors of the building in our ghost hunting investigation...
